I bought BMWhat software for my android smartphone. Using standard inpa obd/usb cable. Roof remote control is really cool :P

Some features what i enabled.

Comfort open using remote
Comfort close using remote
Visual indicator for lock
Visual indicator for unlock
Power windows doors open
Power windows after power off

There seems to be more options in that software than in SSS/INPA. I have INPA cable and some softwares in my coding computer.
Do you have some gender changer usb bit or how do you connect inpa cable in your phone?

*edit.... OTG cable found it :)

Yep.. Sony Z3 compact package includes that adapter. I highly recommend Bmwhat if you like to code some special functions to your car..

Bought today OTG cable and BMWhat sw.
Much easier to use than those PC softwares I have. And has more options to code.

I coded visual lock/unlock, which I failed to do with PC sw and remote roof option :P
But somehow it works quite unreliably. When I hold unlock button car lowers it's windows and starts lower roof, sometimes it goes all the way down and windows raises again, but sometimes it stops moving. When I press lock and hold unlock it resumes lowering. Same happens when locking car.
It could be remotes battery, or something. I tried with two different keys.

But anyway, thanks!!

Quick photo from my winter garage. There has been no any progress so far, i am waiting shipment from Beisan Systems (Vanos o-rings). If everything goes well, in march i will do vanos seal replacement work. I dont have any rush with it because we usually have snow and terrible road conditions so long in spring. May is usually first month you can drive with summer vehicles. I am still considering if i downgrade those style 32 18" wheels to style 103 17" wheels.

You need a Reinhold or Gaptech module for this to work at its best. With them you just press lock or un lock three times and it raises if lowers the roof. You'd fails sometimes either because you let go of the button slightly or the signal got blocked.

I tried several times and quite near car. But I agree, that would be the best option.

Antti; why did'nt you use those i6 Vanos rings (I saw you were selling those in another forum)? Is there some difference between those?

My mechanic friend told that I6 seals are okay for the job no problem and works well, altough i decided to use Beisan because in Z4 that vanos replacement work is so difficult compared for example manual e46, (i dont want to take it 2 times in pieces..) i have always used Beisan before.. never any problems. I6 is basically Beisan replica what i know.

OK. I have quite good fuel economy, according to BC around 7 l/100km in longer journeys, and haven't notice any problems below 3k rpm. But it would probably still be a good thing to do.

My Z4 works also perfect, and i dont feel any symptoms like i had e46 before doing vanos job. Parts are so cheap and labour costs hopefully nothing so i will do that job. I believe if i cannot feel power gain i believe fuel economy will be better with tight vanos seals.

Wow really nice looking motor. The wheels really suit the car imo. Top marks for some good quality DIY work on the car
