Critical recall
I checked this out with my dealer today. The recall affects Z4 G29 cars built between 5th Nov 2018 and 26th Feb 2019. My car was built early March 2019 so it is not affected.

That's good, ours was May 2019, so should be Ok then. (Bare in mind the national UK showroom launch was 9th March, so thats not many)

Remember that all the cars built for the launch as well as a lot of the advance orders will have been built before 26 February.

Does anyone have an update about the recall fix yet? I understand a few M40i owners have already left their cars with BMW? I’m due to drop off my car at the dealer in the morning but don’t want it parked up in the dealers car park for weeks whilst waiting for parts. Considering cancelling the drop off as it stands to save any problems. I contacted BMW customer service for information as keen to get a suitable replacement if needed but no reply as yet. Any information appreciated.

I got a text from my dealer yesterday to say that my car is now ready for collection. Unfortunately, I am currently away on my holidays down south and unable to collect it until next week. It would appear that the parts have arrived earlier than BMW had initially quoted, so hopefully the job should be done the same day.Obs-Com wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 9:38 am Does anyone have an update about the recall fix yet? Mine was done in the UK yesterday, parts definitely available. I'd like to tell you how that has changed the behaviour of the car, but the GWS failed and its awaiting a replacement

Good news. Car spent the day at Williams BMW in Bolton and collected at 6pm with all the essential work completed. Took a while to complete as once the parts replaced the car needs to be set up correctly and had to go out a couple of times for testing. Driving home the car felt great but then it always does TBH!
My software has also been updated to latest release (03/20 or 05/20 can’t remember which one). Everything working as it should and no settings needed to be reinstalled. The car felt a little more responsive and sounded better in sport plus (?).
There was a noticeable difference in the quality of sound from the HK Hi-Fi. Much more crisp and better bass quality. Same settings as before via Logic7 but a much better sound all round.
All in all a very positive outcome and with a bit of luck, I hope to be in Switzerland and Austria next week for a quickly rearranged trip.

You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I don’t think I would ever have sussed it was German word in acronym form.
Every day’s a school day but I don’t know if it’s Der, Die or Das!

I thought I was on to a winner. Managed to argue late last week for a priority slot Monday but without a loaner - not an issue tho the plan was to get the car back Tuesday...
It’s still there
Parts weren’t delivered until Tuesday due to delays and then terrible customer service (and a busy work day) means I heard nothing Wednesday at all! Called this morning to be told “it’s on the ramp!” - so clearly they did nothing with it wed!
Midday comes and I call and get told that there’s some retaining bolts on the covers beneath the car that are required as the old ones break on removal but they aren’t included in the recall kit so they had to order them separately!
Long story shortened; they didn’t get them. I moaned. I now have a rubbish Mini Cooper Classic - aka the plastic dream to drive until tomorrow when they assure me the bolts will be on site, fitted, the car road tested and then returned...
Bottom line; chase up the bolts when booking yours in just in case
