Critical safety recall

Post by Obs-Com » Tue Jun 30, 2020 2:26 pm

Thanks for the heads up and link to check this.

Not had anything as yet from BMW but mine is also subject to “open safety related recall”. Provides Recall Code: 0032140300. No idea what this means. I plan to contact Williams in Bolton to find out more.

Mine quotes the same code. Guess it’s all linked to the one Swiftly mentioned. Given that it was only released yesterday, it will be a few days before we hear anything yet.

Guess we will have a letter coming out soon then to advise us. I won’t say anything to BMW yet as I don’t want them holding onto my car if parts aren’t available.

Thanks for passing this on Swiftly.

Did they get anywhere with the software update?
Thats actually what the zed was booked in for. Rather annoyed to say the least with the dealer not releasing the zed, especially as I am driving down zedless to the cotswolds on Sunday for a week

On the vehicle inspection report it states, QE 10032140300 it needs AT track rod repair kit reference QE sheet, which is marked in red as urgent, the highest category.

Highest level safety recalls imply possible death/serious injury as a result of continued use..

So the logic is ..

If it’s at home don’t drive it unless it’s to the garage to get it fixed or if it’s in the garage don’t release it till it’s fixed...simple..

In this case they are doing it for your own good / protect themselves from lawyers..

I can't see anything wrong with that logic!

If it is indeed a potential sudden failure of a safety critical component, I think would ask the dealer to collect the car rather than drive it to the garage myself, working on the basis of - They bend it, they mend it!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

The same applies in the UK. It's your car, - period.

Called at my local dealer today. Car booked in for next Thursday. Informed parts on order but no information passed re not driving the car in the meantime. Dealer confirmed that BMW will arrange another car if mine needs to stay with them. :|

Argh! Annoying.

Just discovered this (Thanks Wyldie85 for the heads up) and sure enough mine gives the same code so the same issue. Not heard anything either - how did people discover this.
Now knowing about it gives the dilemma of driving it. Especially a red safety notice.
Might give one of the two local dealerships a ring and see what their timescales are.

I've just called my local dealer about this and there's no recall in place for Z4 G29 30s.

If it was only released on Monday then BMW won’t have had time to contact owners yet. It’s only through the wonders of the forum that we know about it already. I’m going to call my dealer now and see what they say.

Critical safety recall

Booked in for the 17th as the next available appointment.

I asked about the safety of it and whether I can use it. I was told that unless I notice any changes in the steering then it’s ‘probably fine to drive’. Or, if I do notice anything untoward then BMW will come and take it away as unsafe...

Didn’t seem overly concerned. No car available for me on the day and it’s an all day job. No mention of the £15.00 sanitise charge this time either. Which is good because I won’t be paying that.
