This seems to be a common fault on BMWs now lots of M2C s with the same issue - sudden large cracks appearing no signs of chips etc

Not G29 related... but as a cautionary tale... Had the windscreen replaced on my E89 recently (genuine stone chip)... Guy who replaced it was asked to be careful and make sure the screen was in the middle of the frame.... Had no choice in the matter as insurance company refused to pay for BMW or another windscreen fitter. Guy came out and did the job and told me no issues... When i inspected the car he had broken the front valence and tried to cover it up and the screen was not in the center of the frame. They came back to fit a new valance and reposition the screen.... when the fitter removed the original valance he had used a screwdriver on the tabs holding it on to the car instead of the plastic trim removal tools... this had taken the paintwork on the brackets down to metal. It had to go into the main dealer to have the marks rectified for the corrosion warranty... Eventually cost the windscreen company £1000 to sort out... So check the work....

That’s crap!! Must admit I dread having replacement windscreens. I’ve needed 2 in the last 4 years abs each time Autoglass have made a right pigs ear!!
