Mmmmmmmmmmmm

And there was me thinking that I will retire next year - happy with the Z4M with the plan to keep it forever on the basis that a) I like it and b) nothing else has come along in the past 10 years that I have lusted for.

But....if the reality is the same as those pictures I may need to work a bit longer, or negotiate a very large pay off!

Very interested to see the official launch materials.

Yes I'd say e89 will be hit quite hard. Old models do normally take a nose dive when a new model appears. I think this will be particularly true in the e89s case for a number of reasons. As ever the values of the newer cars will be hit hardest

Not sure. It will depend how it drives I think. The E89 looked radically different to the E85 but it didn't killed used values that much. Many think the E89 is just too refined as a sports car and is much more a cruiser. If this new model adds another 100Kg and is nothing special dynamically then this is just another nail in the BMW 'driver involvement' coffin that has been steadily closing since the Z3.

I think it looks very 'American' from some angles.

Yeah get what you are saying but all signs point to it going the other way actually reducing the weight and making it more of a drivers car, and with a proper //M version on the way this could be seriously epic

I think un registered or 66 plate dealership E89s will drop quite a bit.

As for used cars around the 10-15k mark, I wouldnt expect to see their vaules drop much.

Its still a BMW at the end of the day, a low mileage good contition E89 wont depreciate too much as a result of this.
Its still half or a third of the price of the new one!

You're having a laugh... e89 prices are incredibly cheap already for what you get.

When is the first one due to roll out of the factory anyway?
Next year?
If it is then the newest E89 will be around 2 years old and prices will have fallen anyway.
There will still be a market for ALL Z4s that are in different price brackets.
I suppose its just like any car, a new model comes out that will obviously be more expensive than the previous model and when people cant afford the new model will look for the old model instead.

No mention of a soft or hard top and possible hybrid engine option. I suspect that if it goes soft top then the e89 will retain it's price as not everyone (Me included) likes a soft top.
