Not Z5 then..
It was never going to be Z5.
Why would BMW go to all the trouble of renaming the range in odds for standard cars and evens for coupe, 'vert, specials only to break it on the next new model?
Journo spreading stories for their own ends to get the publicity and make searching for news easier on the new upcoming model.
The Z4 is dead! Long live the Z4!

I'm not even convinced with the new soft-top only option either. Mazda do both with the MX5 and increased sales as a result. No reason why BMW won't do the same withthe new Z4.
Soft-top comes out 2018 MY with hard top launched in 2020 MY
Some of the spy shots don't look totally right as softies. Too long a blind spot behind the single side window.
Whatever happens, It's going to be fantastic!

I was wondering why the move to Austria for production? Looks like it's only previously been used for Mini production, with the Countryman, Paceman and Coupé.

Hah, so true. Really depends on how serious they are about taking on Porsche.Maniac wrote:You have an interesting level of 'faith'. Unfortunately, I think Porsche just handed them an ace by dropping to 4cyls for the 718s. The 6cyl engines will be enough of a lure to compensate for other areas not quite being up to scratch. Really hope I'm wrong though.

Indeed it could be but then I choose to believe it won't be. Having had a few now, I think they just appeal to me in a way that the competitors just don't.
Time will tell who is right.
