BMW ID/Setting driver profiles.

Post by Scubaregs » Tue Jul 06, 2021 9:22 pm

Car arrived today and had a quick drive and play around.
Regarding setting up a second driver profile, I've set up mine, do I need to set up a second BMW ID for the second driver profile?

Thanks.

If it's the same as my 1-series then yes we did.
Bonus of that is, if we're out with only one key fob we can swap driver profiles by entering the other driver's PIN.

Not sure if they fixed it yet but i had a lot of trouble with the driver profiles when i just got mine.
I opened the car with key A when i went to pick up the car the first time and then set up the driver profile (only one) inside the car with the option checked to remember the driver.

Afterwards i kept using key B to open the car, and each time i had to log in again after entering the car because it didn't sync the profile on key B.

So it might be a good idea to close the car and open it with the other key to set up the second profile. (the bug may be fixed by now, I don't know, I haven't used the other key since I figured it out)

Seem to have it set up, both have ID'S and both keys set seat/mirrors as they should.
Only bugbear is Lynn's app, whilst saying she has an ID and is signed in, does not give her all the app features I get. If I set it up again, it does, but then changes my app to the way hers was.

Looks like it Andy, but seems silly app does not give all features on second account.

We have that with the 1-series. Set the app up on my phone. Vall sets hers up and mine disappears. Reinstall it, hers disappears.
Latest software update seems to have fixed it as far as I can tell.
Came in useful when she somehow managed to lock the keys in the boot 50 miles from home.
Her friends were most impressed when I unlocked it from home with my phone.

I'm thinking about how you would be able to do that, if you were actually trying to do it :)
All I can come up with is: lock your car with the boot open then throw the keys in and close the boot.
But i'm not sure if I want to try it, no internet where the car is parked :D

Many years ago I managed to lock my bike keys under the seat whilst in the lakes with my ex wife.
Her brother had to drive down with the spare set.
