Electric Z4
For me the enjoyment of a sports car is more than just speed, otherwise I'd just have got a Model 3 Performance. The noise is a big part of it (yes, you can recreate that but it wouldn't feel real) but also the characteristics of ICE's - electric cars are brilliant, but their motors all feel the same as one another in terms of personality. There are probably some clips or quotes out there from Clarkson or Harris explaining it much better than I could.
Being in my 30's, I'm probably going to spend more than half of my life driving electric cars (or being driven by them!) so I'd rather enjoy a glorious ICE now while I still can. In 20/30 years something like a straight six Z4 will either be extinct or cost an absolute fortune as a classic.
So, yeah, I suppose I probably would buy an electric Z4 or Boxster, but not just yet - I'm going to live in the past while I still can. It's a bit like having the chance to get a pet dinosaur a few years before the meteor is expected to hit and wipe them out... "no thanks mate, dogs are the future, I'll take a golden retriever please" or "f@#k yes give me that dino and two cows for it to eat!"?
I'll have plenty of time to have fun with a labrador, so I'll stick with my velociraptor for now

Maybe look at some statistics?
Look at z4's for sale on carsites from a certain era and look at how many miles they have driven on average and then look at say a 3 series from the same era and look how many miles they have driven on average.
You'll see that the 3 series cars will have driven way more on average per car.
So it's not wrong. It's just that your car isn't setting the average for all cars.
It's just a fact: roadsters drive on average less miles than normal cars.
This even goes for the metal roofed e89. (for something like a boxster, they drive on average less miles than an e89)

I think when you've got a £10-15k previous generation Z4 on the drive the likelihood is that it'd be your 2nd car. When it's a one/two year old £50k G29, maybe not (unless you've also got a £100k Range Rover on the drive too!).

Funny this came up. I live in London and drive around a lot. Felt like I would be killing my m40i far too quicklyhandymanuk wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 8:56 am I think when you've got a £10-15k previous generation Z4 on the drive the likelihood is that it'd be your 2nd car. Also add the cost of £15 a day 7 days a week congestion charge then an electric work car starts to make sense.
Im dipping my toe into electric now. £370 a month, no deposit, Tax deductible and only 30 day contract. Gonna see how it works out for me.
I never thought I would go electric. I love the 6 cylinder engine.

You could record the sound and just play it with the windows down when driving around?ori wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 7:31 pmFunny this came up. I live in London and drive around a lot. You could also record a video and watch it on your iPad as you're driving in heavy traffic! I know you are joking, but that is how 'Heath Robinson' adaptations are made. If you use an electric car, commit fully to it. It is a different experience, brake regeneration, will give you the opportunity to learn one pedal driving. Coasting up to a red light instead of rushing up and braking firmly to a stop. You will be more relaxed and arrive fresher at your destination. You will always have your Z to go for a blast, but be prepared to use the electric car more than you thought you would.
