Frozen Paint
All this talk about frozen orange and grey. Everyone knows the blue z4 is the fastest.
Jokes aside. The frozen grey is my favourite colour on the z4, but I have ocd when it comes to the car and after what happened to me and the respray I needed, I don’t think I could sleep at night knowing the paint work isn’t perfect.

No probs. I've done just over 7000 miles in a year (not bad given the lockdown!). That's a good mix of motorways, country lanes and town.Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 12:39 pmA couple of questions, do you have to wash the car after usage, I’m referring to my concerns about use in the summer when here the number plate and front of the car looks like a science project
Do you have any sort of preventative measures like coatings or PPF?
How many miles have you covered and have you picked up and stone chips and scratches?
No I probably only wash the car every few weeks. At the moment, given all I'm able to do is take it to the supermarket, it gets washed probably once a month if not longer. I might give it a rinse with the jet wash a bit more frequently than that.
No PPF, no coatings.
No stone chips or scratches that I have noticed.
I'll support what others have said. Once it's washed and dried you really don't need to do anything else, no polishing of course.

Impressive mileage to be getting in given the current situation. Hopefully you’ll get a lot more in this year

Thanks all for your comments, much appreciated. I was speaking to the buyer for one of the big BMW dealers in Scotland the other day and he confirmed what I thought and indeed what some of you have said in that the paint if beautiful to look at but not so easy to live with.
Looks like it will be San Francisco red for me then

San Francisco red is a great colour and I was considering before opting for Alpine white, and yes I have had 5 white cars now, am I predictable or what

Might be worth reviewing the posts of the two long term owners of matte G29s as neither is of the opinion it’s not easy to live with? I’ve yet to see another matte G29 on the road and there’s a few registered but whichever colour you eventually go for (they all look good IMO), you can sure you still won’t see many others at all. Good luck!Bobster67 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 9:52 pm Thanks all for your comments, much appreciated. I really don’t get what there is to be concerned about? What did the buyer say was the problem?
If you want red then go with red but it don’t do it because it’s your second choice.

The frozen paint finish in Obs-Coms images look amazing as does the car. I always wonder though, why does everyone that has a convertible with a cloth top always show images with the top down?

I love the look of the frozen grey and if I could have found my car in that colour I would have bought it. I appreciate all the comments and I am sure they can be a bit of a nightmare. however my Blue has a chip on it and chips away matched it but any paint or matching of paint is only as good as the matching. I think everything on car forums is in the eye of the beholder. I love my blue, but to be honest if they deal was write at the time I would have any colour (other than black).
All the Best
