This is why not cognac thanks...
I guess some of you know I rejected a cognac interior car this year after a mix up with spec lockdown, or lack of it, dates. The very first G29 I saw was at a launch ‘do’ in spring 2019 with cognac, and I thought it was pretty smart tbh, a few months later I saw a black G29 with Magna red interior and as much as black and red is my fav combo the red was just too bright, even orange and being honest I couldn’t see how I could live with it if I bought a Zed. Forward to a few months ago in the dealers and looking at swatches I thought these colours have changed since launch, they’re toned down, indeed looking at the sales guys Magna red in his company car the difference in tone was striking, even he agreed they looked different and had had the same conversation with colleagues a few weeks earlier. Anyhoo the reason for this ramble is I’ve just stumbled on a photo of the ‘new’ Cognac which I’ve not seen before in pics and just shows the difference in the two tones and to me anyway confirms what I said about it being washed out now, these two pics are very accurate in tone from what I’ve experienced hence this post, I’d be very interested if anyone that thinks the ‘Washed out’ Cognac looks better than the ‘Original’. There could be a little filter going on but truly these pics represent the difference to what I’ve experienced very very closely. The first pic is identical to the car I rejected, it was at the dealers when I went to thrash out a deal.

like it in the top pic..not as keen on it in the bottom one looks a bit too orange in tone although probably more true cognac all this stuff is very personal though innit, I think the top pic looks fantastic and would plump for that over red

Top pic isn’t really Cognac is it? You wouldn’t buy a bottle that colour.

Looks so washed out in the flesh Steve, but hey if you prefer that to the deeper colour then cool.mr.tourette wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 8:05 pm like it in the top pic..not keen on it in the bottom one looks a bit too orange in tone although probably more true cognac all this stuff is very personal though innit, I think the top pic looks fantastic and would plump for that over red

It does indeed, Ive had the same interior as the Bear and the bottom pic is very close to the E89 Walnut.

I guess I do like a light interior, its why i sought out an e89 with ivory white..I would say though if I wanted cognac and got the top pic I wouldn't be impressed as it is not cognac at all really, as Andy points out it is definitely more beige but that said I think it looks very nice and is a great contrast to the blacks in the cabin..not sure I'd compare it to the early e85 beiges though as some of those did look a bit putridjohn-e89 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 8:13 pmmr.tourette wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 8:05 pm like it in the top pic..not keen on it in the bottom one looks a bit too orange in tone although probably more true cognac all this stuff is very personal though innit, I think the top pic looks fantastic and would plump for that over red

Yes, it’s a subconscious thing i suspect-we revert to what we already like Our previous z3 also had a similar individual interior colour Rob

As far as colours go I never use pictures as a reference as they're always off.
Regarding the 2 pics: I can immediately see that the white balance and contrast is not the same unless their black colours have also changed
(there's also an incredible amount of compression so the pictures themselves are of increcibly low quality to begin with)
So getting conclusive facts out of these pictures is imho a bit useless.
Get the 2 cars together in 1 picture.

If you read my post I’ve seen both in the flesh and the pics are the best representation of each that I’ve found as stated.
