Less than 2 weeks and this happens.
Called barons today to find out if they have even started on my car. The door is still on back order and hasn’t arrived yet. They can only chase it tomorrow and get an ETA then. My hopes of having the car back before Xmas are fast diminishing.
If they don’t have an eta on the parts I may give bmw customer care a call and see if they can help, but doubt they can do anything different.

I agree with your estimate of 6K, I had a car knock the wing mirror of my Volvo V90 whilst I was standing on the pavement next to the it, no surprise the driver didn't stop . The total cost for the repair through the authorised repairer was £2600 for the mirror replacement and £5000 for a hire vehicle for 2 weeks. No wonder insurance is so expensive.ori wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:28 pm I’m not sure what happened. Have to hope the cc tv footage is pointed at the right place. We shall see if Barnet even respond to me.
Went to Barons BMW today and had confirmed what my guy told me. New door and paint pretty much half the car.
BMW prices I reckon the insurance company will be in for 6k. Will be interesting to see the estimate when it comes through.
Car will probably go in end of next week. Hope they do a good job!

So I got my car back! Looks good!
Alas, my door speakers and tweeter aren’t working so I have to go back. I presume it’s a connection failure on their part.

Looks good! Is it a good quality repair?
I guess the tweeter thing, though a pain, will easily be rectified.
Cheers

Haha. Not gone deaf in one ear. Tried changing the balance and it goes quiet on right side. Both door speakers aren’t working.
Also notice a knocking sound when window goes up so I reckon that will be a new regulator for them to sort out.

So, I’ve had everything sorted and I’m spotting more faults with the work.
Paintwork is solid, but then I see today that the windscreen wash mechanism isn’t properly in and needs to be sorted.
Going back in on Thursday.
Also there is a hole right in the centre which I’m convinced wasn’t there before or should have something blocking it.
Doesn’t anyone know what it is.

Anyone have any idea what that hole is? I’m not even sure it’s a hole or just missing paint. Maybe where they held the panel while spraying it? I presume no one else has that on their bonnet.
I’m getting fed up with snagging list a repair. This should be done properly by a bmw garage.

I collected my new car after a repair to the nose cone by their in house bodyshop and they hadn’t connected the headlamp washers nor filled the reservoir. Their first attempt they didn’t even get the colour match correct.
Just a lack of attention to detail and in my case a colour blind sprayer!

Yeah i am not surprised by the quote. Hit and runs are the worst. This happened to me a few years ago whilst parked...went through insurance - the bill was around £3k. (Headlamp alone was £1,300). Are bodyshops rinsing it for insurance jobs? hard to say, but they insisted on new bits throughout.Bombardino wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 12:20 pm

When you sign the agreement for the hire car at those silly high prices - look at the small Print- you will have tö pay if the other parties insurance company does not!
