Thanks Jim S I’ll order some Gtechniq and give it a go.

Bullyboy42: The canvas top needs to be completely dry before applying the coating and left overnight to set.
Also, make sure that you cover up the paintwork and windows. Very difficult to remove if it dries on the paintwork and glass.

Great car!

I see you got the Sport instead of the MSport, which is what I have also. I think there are probably more MSport models around, but I specced the Sport as I previously had a couple of MSport E89's and decided that I wanted a more comfortable ride. Apart from that, the difference between the two is purely cosmetic. I appreciate that in your case the choice was not available given that the car already existed, but to me you have got the best option.

Enjoy!

dr-John I’m very happy with the sport model. The ride is firm yet supple, it handles our pot holed roads very well.
The only thing that is missing is a Wind Deflector. The 20i test car I drove had the comfort pack which I believe includes a Wind Deflector. I found the comfort pack annoying as every time I walked past the car it would constantly lock or unlock. My car locks/unlocks with a press of the key. I’m waiting for a price from BMW for the Wind Deflector.

I have comfort pack, there is a setting in iDrive where you can tick to disable the auto unlock/lock function when you walk past the car, I can either use the key fob to lock/unlock the car or just touch the door handles to lock/unlock.

Yeah, I didn't spec the comfort pack but the BMW sales guy pointed out the pathetic lack of a wind deflector and included one for £170, not bad. You should be able to get one retro fitted.

Apart from that I specced the Technology Pack, worth it for the HUD and Harmon Kardon stereo. Park assist also comes with the Tech Pack, I still haven't tried it but it includes a rear view camera which is very useful.

£170 is a reasonable price for the wind deflector, but this is the price you pay if you add it to your spec list when buying the car with it factory fitted. From what I have heard you would be lucky to retro-fit a G29 OEM wind deflector this side of £400 due to the exorbitant cost of the parts.

J400uk posted this information some time ago regarding the retrofitting of a G29 wind deflector on his car:-

After rejigging the garage shelves, moving the tumble dryer and buying a slimline fridge freezer.
It fits !! Just. With inches to spare, the car now has a dry home.

Always feel happier when a convertible is in doors.
Talking of doors,do you have a piece of carpet on the wall to save damage?
Your garage is like mine,a bit of a squeeze . :(

Funnily enough,if you look at the garage wall to the right of the drivers door, you can see 3 sponges bostiked to the wall.
The sponges represent a history of my Z ownership, E86 E89 G29. :)
