Oh I'm pretty ordinary for an old guy. It's just practice and you don't get that in a 4x4.DPG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 7:12 pmNot everyone is a driving god like you thoughbuzyg wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 5:38 pmI took my ///MR out for a winter drive today. On cold MPSS I was ice skating and that is with a meagre 289ftlbs of torque. I absolutely love it when it is like that though. It's not about how fast it's about how much fun.handymanuk wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 12:54 pm Some funny responses here! This will be my third BMW, I've had two Audi's before. I think you'll find that the lack of indicators and tail gating applies to both brands!
This is my fear. I had an M235i previously and got a little tired of the lack of traction. I guess I need to get used to it and learn how to drive the car to get the most out of it.
How do you find the cabin differences? To me, the interior of the Z feels a lot more premium.
Yes, I'm on one of the TT forums, but not particularly active.
If you don't enjoy/feel confident with the back end moving around then stick with the safe Audi.

the heating / aircon switches - a bit dated and cheap to say the least, and the switchs in the doorshandymanuk wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 7:40 pmInteresting. Which buttons are you referring to? I find that the clicking sound of the steering wheel buttons on the TTS are particularly cheap. I much prefer the softer touch on the BMW. In my M235i I did find that there were some silly bits that felt cheap, like the carpet in the boot. I don't know why, it just seemed very naff compared to the Audi. I think it's the same with the Z4 from what I have seen.

Just heard that my car is at status 8200, released to carrier. BMW are saying it’s should be at the dealer first week of March. That’s a month earlier than promised! I’m excited!

The Zed wins it imho as the chassis is stiff enough to provide lots of grip, certainly enough for the road, better looking exterior, nicer interior.....just.

Having done around 250 miles so far here are some early thoughts. All subjective of course.
- It feels stiffer than the TTS, no understeer that I can feel, some oversteer if you push it a bit
- It doesn't generally feel as agile as the TTS, probably due to the weight, although I get a better feeling of confidence from it when I tackle a tight corner (if that's not contradictory)
- The suspension is leaps and bounds better than the TTS, the way it handles pot holes, road bumps and uneven surfaces is simply amazing
- The steering has a lot less feel than the TTS, less direct especially in comfort mode, there's basically a dead spot in the middle of the steering range
- The interior is fantastic, the design feels more premium than the TTS
- The steering wheel feels cheap, what is the material it's covered in? It feels like fake leather, not great
- The overall quality is good but some of the switch gear feels cheaper, the stalks, the driving mode buttons, the aircon buttons but in other areas it's better than the Audi, the steering wheel buttons for example
- There's less in cabin storage, the door bins are only good for an umbrella, obviously, the boot is smaller too
- It sounds great! I'm hoping that as I run in the engine I start to get a lot more noise from it
- There's less lag with the gear box, it feels smoother, putting my foot down from rest it feels more responsive
- You can't mute the music/radio from the steering wheel like you can in the TTS (this is just odd!)
- The tech is above and beyond, absolutely in love with the heads up display
- It looks better than the TTS, especially the rear
Overall, I'm happy. I'll be happier when it's run in and I can properly floor it...

I gave up looking for a mute button on the wheel also.
Would say your summary is spot on.
