M40i opening the roof
Hi, I didn’t realise when I bought my M40i Z4 that the comfort package is required to open the roof from outside the car. This would be good to do, I’ve tried with my BMW dealer to see if there is something we can do but they have unfortunately said there is nothing they can do to retro fit a solution. I have seen a video of a guy with an app that allowed the e89 open the roof from outside. Does anyone have a solution for this?
I found this but it looks like it doesn’t do the roof. http://support.mycarly.com/knowledge-ba ... -possible/

On the E89 you can only do this with theSmartTOP module. It is not possible with Carly. If you take a look here http://www.mods4cars.com/blog/smarttop- ... able-soon/ it appears that there will be a version for the G29 available shortly.

I'd have thought the M40i would have most options as standard. Especially something like that.
Very disappointing when you've ordered the top of the range model

LOL it's a BMW, they want your money for every little extra even those that really should be standard on a car of this class!

I have this on my E89 and it works extremely well. It was comparatively easy to fit and I see no reason why it shouldn’t be just as successful on a G29.

Without a smarttop you can’t close it again though, you also don’t have one touch operation without the module or single touch operation over all 4 windows-it also gives you the comfort access functionality without having it optioned on your carStevo1987 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 11:25 pmI don't have smartTOP on my e89 but I can open the roof from outside the car.Tinker15 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 11:15 pm On the E89 you can only do this with theSmartTOP module. Correct, that is why I didn't say what you just posted but OP was only talking about opening the roof from the outside.
