The 20i’s don’t seem to be in huge demand but I think they’ll be like E89 18i/20i’s soon. Once they’re out of warranty a remap up to 280ish I think running everything else stock apart from the remap

Genuine question. Here’s a comparable brand new, unregistered one at £41k/€47.6k across the border from you. What penalties would you have to pay to take it south?earthdweller wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 1:42 pmYou want to see what they cost here in Ireland !Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 1:37 pm Not a personal favourite

You’d have to pay the ( illegal) VRT (vehicle registration tax) which is a % of what the revenue say it’s worth in the southArgyll Andy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 1:52 pmGenuine question. Perhaps 20% .. depends on emissions how much, maybe €13k plus VAT of 22% which I’m not sure is on the purchase price or the value that the revenue put on it .. so probably more than - €20k

Thanks for explaining, so not worth it which seems mad that a €20k cheaper car could cost you more by driving it across the borderearthdweller wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 3:34 pmYou’d have to pay the ( illegal) VRT (vehicle registration tax) which is a % of what the revenue say it’s worth in the southArgyll Andy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 1:52 pmGenuine question. A fully loaded 4 pot 2 litre with all the relevant options ticked too almost bring it up to M40i spec is either as dear or dearer than an M40i when you use the new car configuration system

I'll add in that I'm in the process of buying a new house with a large garage. It would be nice to free up the capital to have should any unexpected costs pop up but at this stage I should have everything covered. The hypothetical "profit" from the M40i would do a hell of a job in transforming the garage from bog standard functional to a car lover's garage.Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 8:50 amAbsolutely agree with you, at these price increases if you’ve any intention of selling over the next 12 months I’d be bailing now and sitting back and watching the market. If you can make a profit bang onTheGingerOneNI wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 8:41 amI understand. I've never bought or sold cars to make money. I buy because i want a new experience and sell when I no longer feel any joy from it. I'm still very much enjoying the Zed but such is the increase in second hand value I can go and get another experience for now and revisit the Zed down the line.Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 8:34 am I’m laughing at you all considering bailing and I’m still waiting for mine.
There will be that many forum cars hitting the market it’ll deal with the lack of supply issues
Saying that, I agree, get out while the moneys good
I was talking to someone at length about this the other night and the discussion basically went, it’d mad not to sell their car just now with the 2nd hand value as it’ll probably never be as high again as it is now.
If you’ve got something you can get into for reasonable money, or can sit back and watch the market absolutely the way to go.
We definitely don’t buy these types of cars to make money but if they happen to do that all the better.
The exact same position Wyldie85, is finding himself in just now too

I think AA has been whispering in your ear convincing you this is a good idea - he is great for the economy
It does make sense if you got a good deal on the one you sold and the new one - get to have a full warranty again

That git convinced me!
I mean man logic it obviously makes sense, but even regular logic it works out ok. I got a great deal on a new car, but delivery screwed me as it’s late august so I might as well wait for September.
I will miss summer months, but hopefully will be away most of august anyway. Many summers ahead to enjoy!
New car is misano blue (the fastest colour as we all know) with comfort, tech, shadow, and drivers assistance pack.
No idea if the last pack is any good, but if I’m getting a new car I might as well get a slightly better spec.
