I never buy new, so it's a moot point for me.

When it's down to 50% of that (so a year or two) then I might consider one - but I'd probably pick an M2 Comp or M4 over the Z4.

My dealer had an approved used i8 parked outside for £1,000 less than list price of the Z4 M40i when i went for a test drive last weekend. I know where my money would go.

When you consider the depreciation is equal to the monthly payments it makes no sense to me.

Do the figures you'll soon find out if you think its worth it. Its all personal preference, cars arent investments but the Z4 really does poorly on the residual scale. Depends if you want or can afford to loose 20k in the time you have it. If you can then maybe you should invest the money, PCP it and hopefully your investment will pay for the car instead... 20k isnt a great deal of money but I would rather have it than loose it.

For example buying a 981 boxster or cayman the likelyhood is you will loose very little if the 718 is anything to go by it may even appreciate. In all honesty they are more special cars for that sort of money.

You could have 2 Z4M coupes

Alow someone else to take the hit on depreciation and go for one of the alternatives mentioned above.
