Sooooo..the looks debate rumbles on..........and on.........aaaaaaaaaaaaannnd............on.

Anyone actually interested in how it drives perhaps....?? Based on the Autoweek review, the tech spec, the wheelbase etc, the back to the drawing board philosophy of hopefully making a proper sports car...?

Just wondering.......

Number 1 on the list for me when looking at a car is that I have to like what it looks like, inside and out.
I would take looks and comfort over performance any day.
On our potholed overcrowded roads how it handles or its 0-60 time is almost irrelevant.

Comfort is very much included in how it drives, and this is my whole point, just suppose this new car is the best roady to drive that BMW has ever made....which personally I think it will be....are folk going to overlook it because it’s not a 100% looker...? :?

Everyone is looking for different criteria in a car. I tend to go for aesthetics more than anything but if it drives like a barge then I am also out. Probably why I never got an Alfa Brera.

Judging from the comments on here... yes! :D

Edit: which is good, as it just means fewer on the roads. 8) #exclusive

Assuming it does indeed drive like a dream. Then it just needs more gg's, a clutch pedal and a few tweaks to the front end looks and I'm on the list.

I just find it strange that the ‘pinnacle’ of every other model (e.g. M3 goes from 340 to 400 to 425) gets a power increase with every iteration, yet the Z3 has stayed at 340bhp through the e85/86 & e89 iterations.

It’s now called a 40i, but only has the same engine power as the older 35is.

Maybe they’re waiting for the gullible lot to buy the ‘launch edition’ models before bringing out the ‘good’ one - something like a 40is Competition Pack with 380bhp?

Same old same old tbh

As ive said before in its price range it will compete very well and beat all its competitors. 55k puts it against the low end of most new cars, as ive said before its comp is basic f type, tt-s, SLK. The Z4 will have better tech more room and probably the best engine...

Give it time.

If I am going to spend upwards of £50,000 on a sports car, performance and handling are crucial. As is comfort too. In addition if I were to consider spending this sort of money I would also have to enjoy looking at it as it sits on the drive. At the moment all I have seen is photographs and video clips. Perhaps when I get to see it in the flesh I will grow to like it more. But at the moment it just doesn’t appear to have that “wow” factor that makes me think I really want one of these. :(

Blame the EU - in the US it'll have 380+hp but the new EU emissions regs mean that it needs a particulate filter which restricts the EU-compliant version to approx. 340hp

I’m looking forward to seeing them on the road and hearing how they are on the road performance wise. I’m sure the looks will grow on us.

If I were in a position to buy one I’d find it very hard to ignore that I’d be in decent used F type territory though

And if they’re all going to be autos, then it puts an F-Type R back into contention,

Although I’d still be looking at the Zupra.
