Seen one in the flesh

Post by djstan » Mon Oct 08, 2018 8:15 am

I’ve finally seen one in the flesh at the Paris Motor Show - it’s the not-quite-red/not-quite-burned-orange colour with the black grille.

The rear looks great, the tail lights are nice, the bootlid looks good and the boot is much bigger. The interior is quite luxurious, although I would venture by ditching the dials and having screens for the speedo etc. it feels like less of a drivers car than before.

The car seems bigger - wider and taller, especially apparent at the doors (with the windows down) and the back where the roof stows. Couldn’t really get a good idea of the length because there were too many people around trying to get in and have a play.

That front though, wow. Just can’t warm to it at all. So pleased to have my E89, which did a sterling job of getting us to Paris too! (I’ve decided I absolutely loathe the Peripherique though) :)

Yes, it's the work of the Devil and proves conclusively that he's French.

The first time I drove it was in a brand new French car that I'd collected from the factory to bring home to the UK. It was, therefore, RHD. My, my, what fun.

Just back from the road trip. I have a lowly single picture of the Z4 - will post it up later, but it's nothing you haven't already seen...

You should try it on a motorbike in the rain during the rush hour, I was only 26 and my first bike trip abroad . I still wonder how we got out alive. :o

Just like the Nurburgring, there should be a window sticker for the Peripherique.

"I survived the Peripherique"

or

"I drove the Peripherique and lived to tell the tail"
