Given the headrests are built-in to the seats, maybe the whole of the seat back heats up...?

True, maybe. However I think warm air blowing on ones neck would be a nice add on, they do them on the 4 series verts so why not this brand new model...?

Yeah, some truth in that. It reminds me of seeing pictures and video of the new MX5 and thinking 'nice'. Then I saw them in the flesh and they just didn't do it for me. I was nonplussed with images of the Fiat 124, however I really like the look of them on the road. So, yeah I guess seeing the Z4 in the flesh will be the tester.

Indeed! The G29 is in good company in this photo, with the outdated E89 moved to the side... :D

Must have been a fancy abode!

That car is valued higher than the average street!

What a great line up!

Its very easy to neg on change. Its understandable with the length of time people have waited.

People hate change and its funny how different demographics deal with it.

I think its actually rather nice and takes a lot of ques from the rest of the modern BMW model range. Thankfully it is far far away from the 1 and 3 series to feel more special as they feel so run of the mill these days. I think there is a lot of classic sports car design language and keeps enough of the concept car and previous Z familiarity to keep it appealing. Whether you see it or not, its there.

There are quite a few continuation of bangles design language, people hated that when unveiled across the BMW range yet the Z4M Coupe will be hailed by many on here as one of the best looking cars BMW has ever made. Not so much at the time...

That interior is fantastic too. The standard models always look unappealing to me anyway and the sport models usually look better but there doesn't seem to be that many differentiating factors this time round.

BMW has been quoted in saying there wont be an M version but if there was I think it would be worth a purchase. With BMW making an M version of nearly every car available and have a back catalogue of parts I don't see why they wouldn't make a parts bin special but again the Z hasn't sold well for a long time. Just like the Z4M was mostly the E46 M3 and CSL parts.

All these comments remind me of the opinions when the E89 came out yet many hail it the best looking Z4 now, originally the negativity was really strong.

We have had 10 years of being used to the E89, it was beyond controversial on the forum when it was announced, not only because it was heavy, big and nothing like the E85 but also in the looks department, a radical change. I think the time frame is also a reason for people to neg, 10 years waiting for a new model, its always going to be an anti climax and disappointment.

Im sure once it gets out and people actually start driving it from a real world perspective not a reviewer used to driving exotica on a daily basis... that it will do, what the majority of people want very very well. If it has the speed and comfort of the E89 and a bit of the sharpness and weight of the E85 then it will be an excellent car for UK roads.

Just like the 35IS many dissed it for years until the last 3-4 years where it has become really quite a sports car bargain. Possibly because of the huge depreciation, but it is a great car. Ok it isnt a "die hard" weekender but it does dual purpose very well.

Like all Z4s as soon as owners get their hands on them add some subtle aesthetic mods they will be quite appealing. As a quick reminder the Z4M went down very poorly at launch, the 35IS was slated. Neither made in particularly large volumes and now on our own forum sit on pedestals... just saying...

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I say give it some time before you jump on the neg band wagon, there is far to much negging on the forums these days as it is.

I have been waiting for some real world pics like these, I was skeptical about the looks at first, but it does look good.

The only thing I dont like personally, is the fabric roof.

I cant wait to see one in person, and form a proper opinion on it.

Its looking great here though, the sport model may even look better than the Msport

Agree with comment about fabric roof, I preferred the hardtop on the E89 and I think a bit more care needs to be taken with the fabric and waterproofing etc.

I was in 2 minds whether to post the photos on here, given the negativity towards it. Good that some people are reserving judgement until they’ve seen one up close, or driven it. You could be right tomscott, could be a demographic thing, looking at the ages on some users profiles.

That's a bit of a sly move in that pic.
Put it in between two old cars and it looks better than it did parked next to the E89.

And is that the concept car that is parked two cars up?
Why didn't they sit that next to the new model?
Haha yeah, good move from the marketing people... how to make something look good by changing the surroundings! :D
