275/35/19 rear tyres

Post by Z4 Beemer » Sat Sep 15, 2018 2:05 pm

I’m a bit out of touch with recent BMW tyre/wheel sizes, but is 275 not a bit wider than usual for 19” rims...? :?

Serious rubber not exactly matched with the brakes  275 suggests a 10j rear , whatever its good to see the Bmw boffins finally seeing sense on the profile  previous 19s on Zs being a 30 profile which is simply not enough

It's a safe choice, 380bhp would unsettle a 255 (like the M4) so these 275s should keep it planted.

....and the 35% of a 275 does seem quite a high tyre wall, should ride quite well.

275/35/19 rear tyres

The choice of 255/35/19 fronts is more interesting, IMHO. All things being equal, that feels like more aggressive setup (stagger ratio) than the past two generations, and perhaps one more appropriate for a front-engined sports car than what we currently have?
2008 Z4MC: heavy wheels | crap suspension | skittish rear end | wobbly engine | not enough induction noise | underwhelming turn in | inconsistent braking | lardy battery | chubby steering wheel
2006 Z4 2.5si: gone

Indeed unusual for Bmw cars though my lads 2011 TTrs runs 255 35 19 fronts from stock
