Did any of you guys watch the video?
The presenter confirms that there will be a ‘40i’ version being released (which is basically the prototype car he is driving) and there will also be an M variant.
This is confirmed from 4:00 - 4:22.

According to autocar last week there wont be an 'M' version , im guessing that for the actual volume they would shift its not worth the cost of development , I read a very depressing article saying that convertible / 2 seater cars are in terminal decline mainly coz everyone wants to put their bottom pn an SUV seat , heaven knows why
Valencia Orange 35is now gone but well remembered now Porsche Boxster GTS

They seem to say M40i quite a lot and maybe that is what is confusing people.chasBMW wrote: ↑Tue Jun 12, 2018 12:27 pmAccording to autocar last week there wont be an 'M' version , im guessing that for the actual volume they would shift its not worth the cost of development , I read a very depressing article saying that convertible / 2 seater cars are in terminal decline mainly coz everyone wants to put their bottom pn an SUV seat , heaven knows why
Is this not just the same as saying the M140i or the M135i. They are not really M cars.
2 seater cars are pretty much either a second car or for people with no family from my point of view.
After buying our X6 2 years ago I can see why people like SUVs and they are more practical than a 2 seater.

I’ve read no M in a number of places, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Perhaps they will change their minds for the facelift if the car is popular. Had they always planned an M e85/6 ? I don’t know.
Oh, and spot the mistake - I meant M40i obviously

I'm intrigued by the car so far, if its as claimed and the first iteration is a 3l TwinTurbo with 360-380bhp an ///M would have to be quite fruity! Even the base car will be quite a machine. I also like that they seem to have embraced the light weight angle as well (no doubt a Toyota influence). I wont lie though, if the Coupe version of the car is the Supra......... I might jump ship

If the road going model is as close to the pics on the net it looks like a cracking looking car. Maybe BMW have missed a trick.Angelus666 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 5:51 pm It's an interesting one on pricing....how much will the M40i be fully loaded, £50kish....how much can Toyota charge for a Supra...£35k max...?
As for pricing, Toyota can charge whatever they like, looking around online the old model 20 years ago was selling for around £30k
Cant see it starting at £35k, when £30k in todays money is almost £50k
Shame it wont look exactly like this

Toyota have said "this wont be a cheap car" when asked about it, you can expect to pay a sizable premium over the GT86 which is going to be considered as the baby sister of the SupraAngelus666 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 5:51 pm It's an interesting one on pricing....how much will the M40i be fully loaded, £50kish....how much can Toyota charge for a Supra...£35k max...?

Sorry to bring this back up, I was reading another members for sale ad of his e89 and it mentioned that the cost new before any discount was almost £50k. This was obviously in 2016.
I really cant see the replacement being any less than this which puts it in a more expensive tax bracket when finally launched.
Bearing in mind this will be 3 years later, I think its going to be higher.
Surely this alone is going to hurt sales, and the first 5 years of its life is taxed an extra £310 a year on top of the normal tax.
Its difficult to work out but if the emissions are similar to the 35is does that mean the first year of tax will be over £1200 followed by 5 years of £450 before dropping to £140 a year?
