It's looking less revolutionary now, and more an evolution of the E89. Well, in my eyes anyway! One thing I did notice was the size of the rear brake disks - they're huge!

Design brief 1 / take a E89 & exchange folding hardtop for soft top ~ job done
Design brief 2 / soften & remove any contours or style lines of the E89 ~ job done
looks bland & pretty lame to me  if that's it i can't see what the fuss is about

A few things I don't understand is why they stopped making the E89 when it was still selling (maybe not thousands but still selling) and not have a replacement for pretty much 3 years by the time this is available. I wonder how many sales they have lost out on because they didn't have a 2 seater convertable available if anybody wanted one. They basically just sent everybody to Merc or Audi.
The other thing is why are they testing it on such small wheels when the finished car will probably never be run on them.

Well, they have copied Marlon. Red car and black A pillars
Maybe the wrap is hiding some thing, but I agree with Mr W, looks a bit normal, nondescript :|

I doubt it's using the right panels (at least I hope not!), and the headlights are definitely masked. Does look very lardy though. This was the concept...

I work in the automotive industry. They use fake body panels and add pieces of trim on here and there under the camo, so the body under the camo isn't representative.

I doubt the production car will look like the spy shots

That can't be right. The new 8-series has very similar design concepts to that Z4 concept above so I'd fully expect it to be similar when delivered

So we should just ignore this?
...The future Z4 model, which is expected to go on sale in March 2019, can be seen wearing production-spec bodywork covered by light camouflage
Hopefully you're correct and it is not just camo over finished body panels.
Certainly looking forward to the final 'reveal' to settle all this speculation once and for all.

The front and sides are definitely panelled in. You can see ugly plastic riveting in some shots.

I hope it is wearing decoy panels, else youd want to order some of that swirl camo covering to give it some illusion of shape :(

I wouldn't take too much notice of those pics.
I also wouldn't trust their "source" when they make those sorts of claims. Did someone in BMW tell them that? Doubt it
I think they've made that bit up
