My mate's V12 E-type didn't have any wood, his Healey 3000 was wood free and his MGA has none either, and even more importantly my E86 has none (my Capris didn't have any either) - what "proper" sports cars are you thinking of?

I can't believe Toyota fitted any wood to an MR2! :fuelfire:

There's a lot of good sense in this thread and some real laughs out loud, too.

For me, if I had £53k, which I don't, there's a lot of cars I've driven that I wouldn't buy, new or secondhand, including Boxters and F-Types. Happily, though, I would buy the 35iS I've got now.

As my wife says, better lucky than rich.

Dont you know that the first e85 had an extra catalytic converter compared to the mainland models (they have a straight mid muffler there)? That cost also a little bit of power.

But I do think the new z4 (the m40i model) is too low on power, compared to the competition. the boxster S has 350bhp (but I expect its more in real life, having raced some on the autobahn), and an audi ttrs has 400bhp. If you look back at when the z4m was introduced (or the z3m) and what the competition back then could offer, it was completely the other way round. BMW's had a MASSIVE power advantage back then. Thats all gone now.....

As far as looks go I saw the new z4 back in the flesh 1,5 weeks ago on a sneak preview at BMW HQ. I thought it was a good looking car but hardly a surprising car from a design pov. Styling of the seats was very good though.

In this 'off'white it was a bit 'meh'

Y'all realise its the Audi TT effect :fuelfire:

TT Mk 1 rewrote the rules around 2 seater sports coupes (E85)
TT Mk 2 moved the design half way towards an A5 but kept some distinction (E89)
TT Mk 3... full on meh (G29)

2011 Bimmer Z4 35i diamond black, 6-speed manual, full caboodle (hibernating) :driving:

Personally I like the styling of this but I'm afraid its going down the usual BMW path recently of automatic gearbox only option which I do not like. GIVE THE CUSTOMERS A CHOICE !!!!
