Official Alpina Vanos Modification Question.

I have just been looking through the Alpina Market watch pages and saw the post below by PerryGunn.
When looking at the sellers advert on the Alpina register I noticed that he put the following in the advert "The Official Alpina Vanos modification has been done with paperwork and pictures to confirm."
I would like to know if possible what this is ? does it need doing? if yes to either answer then how do I find out if mine has had the work carried out? And if this is an official "recall" item then is it at Alpina's expense?
I have searched on the Alpina register's forum and on here and can't seem to find an answer.
Many thanks.

There was a recall for the N series engine, I think that applied to all engine sizes. Didn't think it soled to the M series engine.

Thanks for the replies.
Followed Ducklakeviews link,
https://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recall ... =VANOS&tx=. But it doesnt appear as if this covers it as the cars VIN no. isn't within either recall list.
Thanks

Hi Tim
The advert is for my car, as far as I am aware there was no official recall for this modification although there is an official Alpina bulletin describing the mod and the part numbers required.
I first became aware of this issue from a post on this forum
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=78824.
I also contacted Alpina directly and they confirmed the existence of the mod.
I have no idea how you would know it had been done without removing the cam cover for access if there is no paperwork or evidence with the car.
I think I may have a digital copy of the bulletin if you are interested.

Just thought I would say many thanks to Mickl for sending me the digital copy of Alpinas bulletin. I shall give Alpina a call and see if they can give me any more info regarding 169 and wether it has had the work done.

What sort of price is this?
I have an invoice with mine where the previous owner paid for a vanos rebuild, but don't know too much about what was involved with this.
I was talking to the people who serviced mine last and mentioned that it had the vanos had been rebuilt, but you could still hear a little noise from it.

3x washers at around 13.00 each!! Alpina part, 3 x nuts BMW part pennies each, plus gaskets and labour, I had mine done whilst it was being serviced at a local ,independent specialist so not sure on actual labour time but I would of thought not much more than an hours labour?
