Lets see your Watches

Post by Ole gits rule » Fri Jul 23, 2021 10:53 pm

Here are mine starting at top left:

Tissot T Touch / Breitling Cockpit / Great uncles watch - he was given this by his parents as he went off to fight in WW1 / Ingersol, was an 18th birthday present from my younger sisters / No idea but must have been one I bought at some point

Seiko Sportura 7L22-OAD0 / Grandfarthers pocket watch / Latest watch is a Clogau Baroque watch given today as a b/day prezzie.

Next on my list is a BRM / Hamilton or a Graham - BRM first I think

The king samurai has upgraded to Sapphire and ceramic bezel, love the dial detail on this one

This week an offer came up for what to me has been my grail watch, put this off many times but a deal too good to resist came up, Breitling Superocean Heritage 42, I'm a bit chuffed with it

Fantastic watches, both  . I recently bought the other style of 'save the ocean' turtle with the brighter blue dial and it is one of the most amazing textured dials I have ever seen, pictures hardly do it justice. The dial changes from a vivid blue in direct light through to almost black out of the light, and many variations between. The ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal were plus points for me as well. Have to say I love seeing your latest acquisitions as I think we have similar tastes :) . (apologies for dust on the watch - didn't pretty it up enough for the photo  )

Thanks buddy, that looks fantastic  I have been considering adding a turtle into the collection too, I was torn between the light and dark dial to be honest and could have bought either but a really good deal pushed me towards the dark..no regrets though as it a fantastic dial as you say with so many variations depending on the light, I also quite like seiko monster that they are using save the ocean dials in and am tempted by that in the "Great White Shark" version, although can't decide the candy bar cyclops just spoils it a bit

Just got myself an iWatch 6 - not sure if it qualifies as a proper watch? I think of it as an electronic toy that has a watch!

My proper watch is in the safe for while.

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

A question for anyone who might know.

I got a Rotary Aquaplunge in 1968 as a 21st Birthday Gift
Is if worth spending any money to have if mended?

Surely only you can answer that..if its a sentimental piece you love then yes, an old Rotary watch won't have much financial value to be honest and if it needs parts they may be hard to come by.

I tried to get an old 1950's Ingersoll repaired for my mother in law as it belonged to her mum and my watchmaker said it couldn't be done really, no parts availability and when these old hand wind movements were built they weren't really made to be repaired if broken

This is really cool - always wanted a Doxa myself - that's a lovely choice, and the strap goes really nicely - I think that suits it better than a bracelet myself! I'm definitely planning on adding one to my collection at some point!
