Re: Show us your...First bike / Ultimate bike
My first and last foray into motorbike ownership, a 1998 Cagiva Mito 125. It was an Italian import which I bought off a friend. He'd owned it for 3 years and covered about 600 km in that time. Unfortunately home ownership got in the way so it had to go. Never got round taking my full bike test.

Had a Suzuki ER50 when I was 16, thought I was the dogs bollocks on it. The girls loved it too, I was always going home at night with smelly fingers
My mate had one too but he got hit by a car and smashed both legs up so I sold mine and bought a Mini and got more than smelly fingers in that!!

Re: Show us your...First bike / Ultimate bike
I've been really lucky in that I've been able to upgrade as I've gone along...
Started with the obligatory RS125
Passed the test and jumped straight on a fireblade (that was a big jump that I look back on and wish I hadn't of taken as it scared the crap out of me)
Nevertheless, Summer 2003 came along and I bought my first brand new bike an R1 - I loved that and would probably still have it today if it wasn't nicked
Couldn't decide what to have next, so I built one from scratch. Dam aggressive but lots of fun. Nitrous GSXR 1100
Had to sell that to make room in the garage for a little Italian exotica. MV F4
Got the bug for Italian, so moved the MV on for a Ducati 749r
But couldn't resist the draw of a big thousand, so now have he BMW S1000rr - bad ass!!!! (With the Zed in the background)

Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

This is where the age begins to show my first real bike apart from when I was a mod with a lambretta with the compulsory foxe's tail flying. Was a Royal Enfield Crusader Sports. After that was a Matchless 650 Twin. Happy days. Sorry no pics available only memories.

I had a FS1E same colour. Freedom at 16 .............great daysjimbo1958 wrote:Yamaha FS1E bought brand new for cash from Waltam Cross Motorcycles for £199 just prior to my 16th Birthday in 1974.
These were unrestricted so 16yo riding a 50mph bike on "L" plates with absolutely no training required back then.
Remember getting up on my 16th Birthday, and getting "The Fizzy" out of the garage, done my paper round on it and then went to school on it.
Me and my mates used to go out on our bikes every night and often 10-20 of us would go down to Southend or Clacton at the weekend.
IIRC Beer was about 15p a Pint and Petrol about 35p a Gallon. Great days.

Re: Show us your...First bike / Ultimate bike
Being a tall chap, started off with one of these - courtesy of the first year of Student Loans
Then as I momentarily forgot I was a tall chap, got an RD200 as a mate had a 250
A driving ban saw me get a bike as an only transport, and I ended up with this, mainly because I couldn't find a second hand xj600 anywhere
I can't imagine a worse bike to winter.
This ended up sat in the garage for three years, when I got a house and had to
move the car off the drive,
get the bike out of the shed,
park it on the road,
put the car back on the drive,
close the shed,
close the gate,
get the gear on
Finally ride off. Had some fun along the way, including a trip through France on a naked bike. (imagine someone stabbing your arse with knitting needles for 5 days)
A trip to Cornwall ( pissed it down while the rest of the country was bathed in sunshine)
Fell off (broken collar bone)
But it was fun. Used to love dodging through city traffic.
I eventually ( because I needed a runaround for dirty work) swapped it for one of these.
I therefore claim the prize for worst ending to a bike career of anyone who still has all their limbs.
And my ultimate bike would be
.
Love the idea of being able to get to some sunshine in a day and not worry about traffic.
