Merc - garage for clutch change, Near Leeds?

Post by stevo///m3 » Sun Aug 01, 2021 5:59 pm

Asking for a friend
Girl I know has a C63 AMG (well , it’s a 63 AMG, that much I know for sure), fire-breathing version etc. Around 80k miles and she thinks the clutch has gone. Anyone know anywhere reliable to get a new clutch? Car is in Leeds; I’ve already said I don’t know the first thing about Mercs so can’t really help much. 59 plate
Anyone recommend an Indy rather than main dealer?
Forlorn request but I said I’d ask around…
Cheers

I take my C63 to these guys:
https://www.prestigemotorengineers.com/

They are a recommended indy on the C63 owners Facebook group.

Really nice guys based in Osset. I travel down from North Yorkshire to them.

Aren't all C63s 7-G tronic automatics of that age?
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

Her car is a prefacelift so has 7G-Tronic transmission the later ones have a MCT (basically the 7G minus the torque converter with a wet clutch instead). Faster shifting and a launch control and I think one extra setting.

Same same but slightly different.

So the 7-G tronic has a torque converter? Therefore it doesn't have a clutch, as such. So how could the OP's friend think the clutch has gone when it doesn't have one? Just saying! :D
