Petrol Lawnmower

Post by Lynchy » Thu Jul 15, 2021 5:35 pm

Afternoon all, as the title says I just need a bit of direction as to the best mower for my budget. I have one already but having recently moved I’d like to get a better one. Budget is £400ish and it must have a rear roller for stripes, also the best place to get one. I do have a local guy that can cut the rather large lawn for £22 and take away the cuttings but not having much to do at the moment I’d like to do it myself. TIA

The best lawnmowers by a long shot are Honda, the models with a rear roller leave excellent stripe, they are however very heavy to manouvre.
They heve a good warranty period BUT it is dependant on dealer annual service being carried out, again silly money for what they do, I do that myself and the one I have now is around 12 years old.

As I said earlier - have fun with the grass, my advice avoid Hyundai or P1Pe - I have one and its a pain, every service place by me will not touch them, stating they are a pain to get parts for.

My neighbour swears by mount field / Webb or John Deere, if I had my choice I would go for a Cobra with Honda lump - https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from ... &_osacat=0

This is what i use, bit pricey but they leave nice stripes, i found mine for £50 in need of some attention to the pulley/belt area

Are the stripes to encourage the sheep to run in a straight line?

I bought a used Honda isy with a shagged deck for £15. Spent £150 on new deck and a few service items and we now have a £400 + mower. It cuts beautify and really rams the grass in the bag. Hi da engines live for ever.

I had an Izzy and a Mountfield with a B&S engine.

The Mountfield is 25 years old now and still runs like a dream. I keep thinking about replacing it, but it's running fine.

The Izzy had a few problems, then rusted away. The motor was done anyway, so it was scrapped.
