What’s the going rate

What would you say was a reasonable £ charge for swapping a set of wheel on a car!
No tyre change just swapping the winter set to the summers.

I will have to pay a garage as unfortunately I‘m not physically able to lift these days  Oh the joys of getting old!

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

If I were close enough it would cost you a four pack of decent ale.
Maybe another member would be willing to help.

You reckon winter's over now then? :poke: :D

+1 to that.
Maybe start a thread asking for help, or change the title of this one. I would be VERY surprised if you didn't get multiple offers. Again, as said above I'm a bit too far away otherwise i'd do it for you.
On a practical note, if you were to get a garage to do it, how would you get the other set of wheels there? In another vehicle, or piled on the passenger seat?

I feel quite ashamed of having to get a simple task like this done! It was a task and a half getting them into the car this morning ( with ‘Er Ladyships help)

I had spinal surgery a few years ago and I’m afraid it’s left it’s mark - but I’m not complaining- there’s plenty worse of than me!
The “other car is a 335 saloon and it had fold down rear seats - it was an extra but glad I ticked the box

The two fat rear wheels lay side x side and the two slightly smaller fronts go in the Boot Space piled two high.

I pay £7.50 a wheel when the boss is in, or a slab of decent beer (i.e. not supermarket own brand, or something like Carling) if she’s not.

But they also check the balance before they put them on…and don’t mind me making multiple trips if I can’t fit all the wheels in the car in one go (the e34 M5 was very handy in that I could fit 4 wheels/tyres upright across the back seats - with a fitted tarp between front & rear headrests - and had a 20v impact wrench for trackday swaps).

Don't be Ron, just one of those things. There is no shame in asking for help on here, either.
Surely that's part of the point of a forum like this? People helping each other out, that's all

Its about £12.50. to change a tyre so £5 a corner seems sensible maybe a little more if they are checking the balance.

£5 a corner sounds ok to me. I will give the local bods a ring tomorrow.
When I think of the jobs I’ve done on my cars over the years and in all sorts of weather and now I have to as for help for such a menial task as changing wheels - it is quite demoralising - I can still drive my z tho

I’m happy with a £20 bill - I might grumble about not being able to do jobs like this but I have friends pushing up the daisies !

Hope you get them sorted. I would be surprised if it was only £20 to swap them over though.
It would probably have been easier to put them on the car instead of putting them IN the car.
I know from putting wheels in and out of my car that its pretty heavy work.

If I have to squat down ie wheel nuts or putting the valve connection on, I can’t get get vertical again without the help of another person or at the very least something to hang onto and haul myself up. Rolling them to the car was the car was the easiest option.
