Back to the office
Been working from home since 18 March 2020. Got notice today that we will be back starting September.
3 days in the office, 2 at home, & of course, 2 day weekend.
Vaccine is suggested but NOT required...Yeah!

Don't think I will be going back to the office again. Got a lovely shiny new Laptop delivered from the firm earlier this week too.

My office is parkland, copse, woodland and the common. Am thankfully still able to go to mine five days a week.
Wonderful when it’s dry or the sun is out. Not so good in the mud and torrential rain.

Be nice to be able to visit the office even if it's for 2 days a week.

To those that used to work in an office but now working from home and plan to continue doing so, are you concerned about jobs being farmed out to cheaper employees, either overseas or otherwise? I'm not office based but if I were it'd possibly be a concern. I can see the appeal of no commute and more flexible working but the decrease in time with other people, as frustrating as that can be at times is surely not generally healthy.
Just some general musings.

Right now I don’t see that as an issue as our company is booming.Jamie25 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 4:50 pm To those that used to work in an office but now working from home and plan to continue doing so, are you concerned about jobs being farmed out to cheaper employees, either overseas or otherwise? I will be 66 in June of this year and have been there for over 30 years. Should the economy turn sour I could see them wanting to cut expenses and then I might get concerned but nothing in our recent history causes me concerns in that area...But the whole world has just learned how quickly things can change!
I am eligible for full social security @66 years and 2 months. I’ve stashed away a comfortable amount in retirement accounts...But, once again, a worldwide economic crash could surely change everything.
I do try to live a day at a time, worrying about the future is senseless, preparing for it is prudent.

Ditto.
Last worked in an office in 1992; hated it. Semi-retired now at 53. Spend about 5 hours a week emailing and sorting stuff out on the phone and can still make a living
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

I stopped working in an office in 2010, but at the time didn't mind it at all.Pondrew wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 9:35 pm Nanu wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 8:26 pm

Probably because even then I could work from home and as I was a commercial claims property loss adjuster I was out of the office visiting loss sites quite a bit, sometimes for days at a time.
With Covid I'm sure there would have been more working from home, but the foreign travel might have been a challenge!
But I gave that up to slow down a bit with part-time work and then stopped working altogether that in 2015, which has turned out to be the best thing I ever did.
Coupes because stunning!

Well as of today I decided to pack my job in working on Covid stuff for my local authority. It was interesting and rewarding work but Council policies got in the way of getting on with the job which in the current climate often needed to be sorted quick. Too frustrated and decided enough was enough.
Loads of job offers and opportunities in my old role in the gambling industry and good money too, but don't think I want to work full time again.
May take the summer off and see what happens in the Autumn.

I think this is where we're headed too. I'm very pleased to be getting back in the office - the social aspect and ease of communication.Old-Duckman wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 11:43 pm Been working from home since 18 March 2020. Got notice today that we will be back starting September.

I hate having to plan almost every conversation as a diary slot rather than getting out of my chair and chatting to someone for a second or two!
