Bed Mattress

Post by ronk » Fri Apr 02, 2021 3:04 pm

I’ve decided I need to change my bed mattress for one of those memory foam / high spec types.
When the shops open I will be able to go in and lie down on one but it’s not like nights kip on one.
Has anyone any advice or opinions - I was considering a Tempur ?

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Depends on personal taste to a certain degree. I slept a few nights on a Tempur one and found it incredibly hot.

Some offer a 200 night trial - I suspect there’s lot of small print somehow .

I am just trialing a simba mattress I have 200 nights to see how it goes only had it a couple of days and it seems ok, feels very firm at first but is very comfortable. I suffer from joint pain.
As to the trial there are no wear or staining clauses they only ask for its condition to find out what they are going to do with it

I have had a Tempur super King mattress for the last 6 years and would not consider anything else. It is however worth the time and effort trying all of their mattresses in the show rooms and spend decent amount of time on each as they have a wide selection of firmness etc. They are not cheap but worth every penny, although I don’t like the Tempur pillows.

Heat is an issue though hence I got rid of my Tempur. Now I have a vented memory foam one.

Personally I cannot stand memory foam, wife loves it however... We recently got a new mattress from Benson's, tried several in lots of shops but settled on a rather nice firm one. Wasn't cheap but worth it. 4000 spring, wool, silk and cashmere filling, need to see what it's like in the heat still

Bear in mind that anything with a free trial has the costs of offering it built in to the price, very much like interest free credit, and free delivery, these services all cost the retailer and so in turn the customer.
I would try a few local independent family run bed shops, ones that have been there for years, they are usually very knowledgeable, big on service and will be highly competitive because they have to be to compete. Unless you have to have a free trial, interest free credit and free delivery of course :D

I’m changing the mattress again because this one albeit only two or three years old hasn’t helped me sleep very well - I’ve had to decamp into the spare room!

I compromised with a sprung mattress with about a 4 inch memory foam top built in. Can't fault it and from somewhere nearby. Dalton Park.

We have a sprung mattress from Benson's and bloody love it. We have a memory foam topper in our caravan and love that too. Try and wait until you can try them out Ron, you spend a lot of time in bed mate

I spent an enormous (it seemed a lot at the time) amount of money on a Dunlopillo superking over 10 years ago and it’s probably the best money I ever spent. I also have a Tempur pillow which I don’t get on with.
