Quarantine

Post by ronk » Sun Feb 07, 2021 1:13 am

What are the current regs about travelling back to the U.K. from South Africa - does anyone know for certain?
I have heard of some people arriving back home via Amsterdam on an indirect flight on the 24th Feb - surely that can’t be correct?

They must surely quarantine?

Early on during covid "lockdown" there were restrictions about arriving into the country and whether you had to quarantine.
It became a joke. Apparently if you had a holiday to Spain and arrived in Glasgow airport you had to quarantine but if you had the same holiday to Spain but arrived in Manchester airport and then drove to Glasgow you didnt as nobody tracked you.
Cant see how they can control people and keep them quarantined when people cant stay at home.

Our neighbours daughter flew back from South Africa via Paris and was not required to quarantine. Unbelievable isn’t it!

I wonder how the new strains are getting into the U.K.? :headbang:
It beggars belief doesn’t it ? I really doesn’t take much thinking about - then they throw their hands in the air with shock.

I despair :headbang:

You're almost seeing what a mess the government has made of this.
When other countries had locked down we were still bringing in plane loads of people without any checks from everywhere in the world, even thousands of people flying in from Wuhan :o

There's no link between all the systems being used. When we came back from Gibraltar, filled out the landing card thing on the gov website, but still had to show it at passport control in the UK as they don't have it on their systems. Don't scan it or anything just show it.

We both then had covid shortly afterwards. Filled in all the track and trace forms (about 45 minutes!), asks if you've been on a flight but doesn't ask the flight number.... Then had a call from track and trace to 'confirm' what we put on. Basically wanted me to tell them everything I already had online. When I questioned this they said they can't see the answers for the online form! A couple of additional bits they asked which weren't on the form were on the landing document, which again they can't access...

Long story short, it's impossible for them to track people when agencies can't even see their own forms. So it would be so easy to get in from anywhere with quarentine

Have you tried complaining about the system to Baroness Dido Harding?
She does appear to have been given vast amounts of our money to run this system.
You could complain to her husband as well, as well as being an MP he is in charge of anti-corruption.

You have to remember this is “world class” according to Boris!

When it’s all died down and the country is back the normal as It ever will be, there will some questions being asked of those in charge.

Before you return to the UK you must provide your journey and contact details. You must self-isolate when you enter the UK from any foreign country except Ireland, unless you have a valid exemption. From 15 February, when entering the UK from a country with a travel ban to the UK, you must quarantine in a government-approved hotel for 10 days.

This just doesnt make sense.
If there is a travel ban nobody should be coming in the first place.
And why wait another week before putting it in place.
