Does anyone have any idea....

Post by True-Blue » Tue Mar 24, 2020 1:41 pm

If you can still have vehicles transported from one part of the country to another currently?

Before I get shot down, I realise buying a car remotely is far from a good idea and of zero importance right now in the overall scheme of things, but Like many people I’m isolating properly and have far too much time to look on here and autotrader etc :D

Without trying to sound condescending, you are self isolating but you are expecting someone else to travel the country for you for something that is not essential. :headbang:

Not at all, my neighbours have just had a parcel delivered, I know because I was putting some rubbish out at the time.

I suspect the driver has been to many other locations, other than my neighbours, this morning. Maybe it was vital food supplies, but I doubt it....

In addition, there are people in other parts of the forum talking about ordering bits for there Z’s, DA polishers etc. I guess they are also considering the boredom and making the most of their time. But surely that’s ‘more’ dangerous than one person going from point A to point B with one item?

I’m not expecting anyone to do anything, I was just thinking out loud

To be honest I have thought the same and almost ordered some cleaning products myself but then I thought about what I was actually doing.
I looked on Amazon and they are giving delivery dates at the end of April, so I guess this means they are not sending stuff out.

I’m not sure what’s worse really, having an empty garage and no car to work on as I’ve just sold my previous Z and can’t now buy another one...

Or, If I’d managed to squeeze in a replacement purchase but not now be allowed to drive it

In all seriousness, I am taking this extremely seriously unlike all the muppets that went to the seaside at the weekend...

It would have been nice to machine polish a car in my garage a bit at a time over the next few weeks/months to alleviate the stress a bit though

Had an email from Cleanyourcar today and it's business as usual for them and sending orders out and the couriers will be delivering as normal. I think delivery companies as with Royal Mail will be leaving parcels on your doorstep and not handing them to you, no signatures taken.

I had a DPD delivery yesterday and the chap didn't hang around, dropped the parcels by the door and hastily left.

Tim.

Porsche actually phoned me today asking if I could go pick up my new car from them. As much as it pained me to do so, I told them to beat it

I took a few deliveries today and both times the delivery driver rang my bell and left it on the doorstep and stepped back until I answered. Both were not wearing any form of ppe however.

A little birthday present to myself..

I got my replacement headlamp washer jet cover from Sopers yesterday, and the postie didn't ask for a signature even though it was supposed to require one - but I can fully understand that.

Now I need to get it painted, which won't be happening any time soon!
Coupes because stunning!

Hi Mr Wilks,

I think this is certainly something I’d consider in future but, on the basis that the MOT history check website has big warnings about not leaving the house, I think the easiest thing all round is just to ‘wait it out’..... although I don’t think this is all going away in another 2 weeks to be honest.

On another note, there have been numerous delivery vans to my various neighbours again today..... I bet white van man has never had such quiet roads!
