5-car garage, with a twist.

Post by tee.gilding » Fri Oct 04, 2019 8:14 pm

So, you've got a five-car garage to fill, but you've got a couple conditions. By a couple, I mean a few...

Five cars.

Five different countries.
At least one from Europe.
At least one from Asia.
At least one from the Americas.

At least one classic (pre-1980).
At least one Electric car (can't resist the movement forever!).
At least one "family" car.
At least one track toy.

Clearly, some will have to tick multiple boxes.

Go!

That's like an A level question. Too much for my poor old brain this time of night. Look forward to reading the replies from those who pass the quiz.

Ok, I’ll have a go...

Tesla P100D
250 GT SWB
Lexus LFA
Porsche 991.2 GT3 RS
Aston Martin DBS Volante

:)
2008 Z4MC: heavy wheels | crap suspension | skittish rear end | wobbly engine | not enough induction noise | underwhelming turn in | inconsistent braking | lardy battery | chubby steering wheel
2006 Z4 2.5si: gone

OK, I'll try!

Tesla Model S of some sort - couldn't care less which one, but it ticks 2 boxes!

Ferrari 275 GTB/4 for the Europe and pre-1980 box ticks.

Supra Turbo MK4 for the Asian box.

"Family car" would have to be a V8 Maserati Quattroporte Auto.

Which just leaves "ed-doe's" Z4MC as the track day car.
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

It was tough only being allowed one car from each country, two German cars would have been easier!

Tesla Model X (USA, family, electric)
Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (Germany, pre-1980)
Honda Civic Type R EP3 (Japan)
Lotus Elise Cup 250 (UK, track)
Abarth 124 Spider (Italy) < this was originally a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, but I decided I'd want a more usable convertible. Much easier if I'd been able to pick another German motor....

Did I pass? :?
2022 Hyundai Kona N - greyhound transport
2018 F56 Mini JCW
2016 MX-5 2.0 Sport Recaro
Gone to a good home: 2007 E86 3.0Si Sport

Nice to see some great choices in there guys, keep them coming. I thought adding the restrictions makes it a bit more interesting, makes you think a bit wider and look across the market a bit more.

Ok time to do the quiz

The first car I ever lusted after. Nissan Cherry Turbo. A sleeper if ever there was one and fits the family.
The only US car I ever fancied, Corvett ZO6, awesome track car, hopeless on the road. :driving:
The ultimate if getting on a bit now, Zonda 8)
The one I still aspire too, you never no. Aston DB9
The best looking car ever. Aston One 77 8) 8) 8)

It seems I mist out a electric one, never mind I don't actually no what any of them are called. :D

I can relate to that - while I know what some of them are called, I wouldn't actually ever want one!

If they ever make one that sells for £1500 on the second hand market and doesn't need new batteries for the following 5 years, then I will consider it. As long as I have a real car in the garrage to drive too.
