New wheels
My quest to find an interesting project car to work on over the winter deviated slightly today when I decided to snag this rather fetching 2017 MY Giant Propel.
It cost over 3k when new and I managed to bag it for less than half that as second owner.
Bargain afaiac!
It's about the same weight and has the same Shimano 105 groupset as my current bike but has more of a racing feel and pedigree to it. And those wheels look as smexy as hell!
Will be replacing the saddle and pedals then taking it for a 60km shakedown ride tomorrow around my way.
Can't help feeling it's going to give me more satisfaction than buying a crusty old fixer-upper...

You need to get your backside over to John's village and test the fishing wire trick

I'm confused, I thought you looked like this.
2008 Z4MC: heavy wheels | crap suspension | skittish rear end | wobbly engine | not enough induction noise | underwhelming turn in | inconsistent braking | lardy battery | chubby steering wheel

Lool!
U lot are fkg brutal.
Was expecting great things from this bike today but could only manage a 26 km/h av speed and 169W output. Same as my current bike for 3 years. Maybe a false investment and should focus on my own physical ability instead of expecting more from better equipment?
Had a northerly headwind for first half of the ride but no excuses really. Ho hum.

Well I don’t think 26km/h is a bad achievement over 60km, maybe a few more hours at the gym may see an improvement, but I still think you are doing well. Have you thought of taking part in the tour de Yorkshire, we have some great cycling routes over here, although there are a few more hills over here

I started using a 4iiii powermeter recently as I'm biking mainly for fitness/pleasure. Racing isn't really on my radar now I'm approaching 50Chippie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 12:59 am Well I don’t think 26km/h is a bad achievement over 60km, maybe a few more hours at the gym may see an improvement, but I still think you are doing well. I want to be putting out 190W average at about a cadence of 70-75 where my heartrate settles down to about 170 and I thought as a bi-product of trying that yesterday I would have achieved a higher speed with the Propel. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.
Hehe. My old bike has 3!

It’s actually just the font size. The bike is made by famous brand Midget.
