Mostly Holland. Sometimes UK.

Lots of valid points and when we all have electric cars the only working power station in the country will be toast

Tim.

Where is your intelligent debate that he asked for instead of getting heated and insulting like your post Christofer....?? :poke: :P

I think cycle lanes are fantastic , my only issue being cyclists are also allowed out where there aren't any  & that's where the problem starts

These are hard to fault imo cyclist is cycling in own space , rest of world is happy & content :P winwin

I'm just glad I live in Holland, where cyclists are prioritised and actually benefit from physically separate bike lanes for the most part.
I can't imagine bikin around on UK roads tbh. It would feel like Russian roulette with all those embittered motorists lol

I was following a right tool on a push bike the other day, every time a vehicle went to pass him, the knob moved right out to the white line, then moved back over once the vehicle had passed. He was causing a bloody great tail back. And I'm not embittered :poke:
I'm rather mellow :P

I think you find at least part of the embittered attitude comes from paying a high cost to run a vehicle on the road and then having it snatched away and given to bycycling freeloaders, also isn't Holland rather flat with a HUGE amount of cyclists?

a many times millionaire knuckle dragger PLEASE..
What the pious always forget is that he does this on purpose and makes more money by self promotion, so by drawing that to our attention you have promoted him and made him some more money. It's a very English disease being resentful. , but jezzer has tapped into it and makes more money every time people complain - genius...

This idea that cyclists own nothing but a £50 bike always interests me. I always thought the Clarkson suggestion that "cyclists can only afford a bike" was a bit of TV comedy but it seems there are people out there who genuinely think that cyclists don't own cars or other motor vehicles. Most entertaining :)

i am aware there is both and im sure jezzer is well aware of that, i wasnt aware he ever said they could only afford a bike, but until they tax cyclists and charge for parking, the world will resent them i suspect.,athough its the bolshy ones that anger the motorists i suspect, riding 2 or 3 abreast makes me personally mad, i have heard of cyclists banging on roofs although never seen it. Personally i dont mind cyclists and always give them plenty of room, its no biggy to me. but the subject was cycle lanes which in this overcrowded country is just stupid and creates resentment and is just a bad idea if there is no room for the traffic.

A lot of what Clarkson says in that video makes total sense only the idiots in governments can't see that. A couple of years ago an idiot on a bike crashed into my stationery immaculate E46 causing over 300 euros of damage and no longer being immaculate!. Did he have insurance? No! did he have money to pay for the damage? No! did he in the end make good my car? No! Moral of the story is if cyclists want to use the same roads as other vehicles they should have to pay the same as other vehicles being road tax and insurance. At least the idiot ended up in pain serves the twat right!

You can’t buy insurance until you’re 18 for one thing though...not very nice banning under 18’s from cycling is it...

I think cycle insurance (3rd party etc) should be available for any age and mandatory to go on a public highway.

Seems like common sense to me.

Oh, and wearing helmets should be mandatory.

With the right "spin" anything can be proven useless....in certain accidents, seat belts could cause problems.

Sure, a helmet won't stop lots of issues but I'd rather wear one than not. Especially if my head is going to crash into a kerb etc.

I'm sure that they have also been proven to be life savers.

Already a legal requirement :) In much the same way as millions of motorists can't be arsed to use their indicators or turn their lights on in low light levels, many cyclists forget/neglect to use their lights.
