F1 quali British GP 1986

This was the period when I was most passionate about F1.
Possibly because of the close racing involved but certainly because of a combination of how fast, noisy and spectacular the cars looked as well as the characters driving them, Senna, Prost, Piquet, Mansell.
Was great to watch this quali session, I’ve never seen it as I was actually down Brands that year and mum forgot to tape quali AND the race for me on the family vcr. Lol

Compare that to how interested I am today; I know Lewis is leading the championship but I have no idea who is behind him and no idea about the chinless wonders driving the assortment of clinical, precision technofests around these days.
I’ll probably be out on a bikeride when the race has started and won’t be bothered about watching the replay later.
How times have changed!

If you liked these cars Chris get yourself along to an Historic F1 meet they still look and sound great.

Here you go in Silverstone Classic 2 weeks time its a great day out though I have not been for quite a few years I hate the carparks at Silverstone.

I went for the first time last year. I loved the old Touring Cars, and the real up close interaction with the F1 cars. Standing 4 foot from one of the Shadows in the garages when they fired it up was a real experience !

That's the beauty of classic meets so much more access this shot I took back in 2016 at the Masters Festival at Brands I was knelt down leaning on the back wheel of an F1 car I soon moved when they fired it up :D
