Lots of searching and making your own comparisons on the web is the best way to find a good deal.

Personaly I use Direct line.

I think Chris knot insurance offer reductions for forum members. Though that may not make them any cheaper, just a USP they use.

Have you actually been driving for 10 years, just in a company car, or car owned by someone else, or never driven?

Will make a lot of difference to your quotes, and some won't insure a 'powerful RWD sports car' until you've got experience in 'normal' cars.

Ultimately, everyone's situation is unique, so it's not easily to recommend a single company that will suit everyone, and that's why the comparisons sites are a good place to start. If they're all quoting £4k, then you may find they really don't want the risk.

Yes, I end up using the comparison sites every year for my daily. If nothing else they give you a good indication of likely cost even before you try companies that aren't on them like Direct Line, etc.

Not so much for my Z4 as it's been modified (exhaust) so it's been with Chris Knott for a couple of years.

i have been driving as named drivers for 12 yrs. Admiral quoted me £600 for 10 months NCB accelerator. Comparisons sites quoting £750 for 12 months - just wondering if i can beat it.

is legal protection cover worth paying £30? does it cover you if someone takes legal action against you following an accident, or is that covered in normal insurance?

I did similar.. bought a noble at 33 but had no no--claims as I'd only had company cars since I was 21. I went with classic line who were 500 cheaper than anyone else. Stayed with them for a.couple of years as they were still the cheapest.

Mine is just under £500 a year with 5 years ncb  so your quote doesn't seem unrealistic to me. Obviously lots of other factors.

I would always go for legal cover as I don't think your example is covered. We used it once when someone hit my wife's car in a car park with witnesses and was claiming it wasn't them. Even with that, it took the legal cover about 5 months to get it out of them so well worth it in my opinion

Try Aviva - I've just had to renew and because I don't live in the best of areas (East London!!) prices had gone up, Aviva were quoting around £150 cheaper than anyone else - and I have 12 years NCB and was still coming up at £550 - I do have 3 points for doing 82 on a motorway 4 years ago tho :?

I've just taken out a multi car policy with Aviva for my Z4MC and the wifes fiat 500. Quotes were around 550ish with protected NCD and legal cover for the Z and 300 for the fiat. Ended up getting both for £711, which I was really happy with. Admiral were around 80 quid cheaper, but when I went to take out the insurance they wouldn't cover me for the £4000 of extras on the car, (wheels, exhaust, carbon intake). This was really strange as when you are on the website doing quotes, there is a drop down menu with maybe 40 different options for modifications to the car. I ticked the 3 which applied to mine and added the value. When I rang up to go through it with a fine tooth comb, they said they would not cover me for the mods...but I was right to declare them. They said as I had told them, I would be covered for the replacement standard car, but not the cost of the mods if it was written off. If I hadn't told them about the mods, wrote it off and they found out, the policy would be void. So, if you have any mods at all, don't go with admiral.
Did exactly the same with Aviva, and have everything declared and covered....great!
