I've never learned to play sadly but do love music, and carried a few interesting guitars on my travels on a previous job

Only thing I have is a set of drumsticks that Chad Smith signed for me

Here's my beloved US Highway 1 Strat, I changed the pickups last year for a set of noiseless and can't believe how good it sounds now. The Tele is a Squier I "stole" on eBay for less than 30 quid, it plays really nicely but I lent it to my son a few months back and haven't seen it since :D
I also have a Line 6 Variax 700 which does everything else... big mistake buying that, any time I make noises about another guitar my wife says "Doesn't your Variax do that?" :headbang:

Many thanks, I acquired the Ricky last year, a bit of an impulse buy but the guy selling it had only just bought it and couldn't get on with the neck so was selling it for a bargain price so snapped it up. Great chord guitar but difficult for lead, I've got my eye on a Gretsch Streamliner in the near future, great value :)

Very nice Ricky Tim, I wanted a 620 in fireglo like yours but so hard to come by, I had to settle for a mapleglo.

I agree with your comments about difficulty using the Ricky for lead, but great for rhythm, I love to crank out Tom Petty and Traveling Wilburys stuff on it.

I haven't seen one of those in a while, is it a 2008 model? When generation noiseless did you go for?

I've currently only got one strat (Surf green 60's FSR SSS) but keep looking at the American Elite strats with the gen 4 noiseless cause after playing one in Andertons through a PPC 212 with a Rockerverb 100 head almost two years ago, I fell in love

Hi, no it's the original Highway One, I got it in 2002 as a belated 40th birthday present to myself. It's got a gorgeous neck and plays beautifully.

I got the pickups in late 2017, they're Vintage Noiseless. I know "real" Strat guys dislike the noiseless because it loses a little bit of the treble or "bite", but to me they just sound much nicer (in this particular Strat anyway). If you've not seen it, this is a decent little comparison video:

This guy's channel is usually worth a look, he does some interesting sound comparisons.

I think the debate on pick ups (noiseless or otherwise) is like the debates on here with engines, coupe etc etc, I think a lot of it comes down to the style of music you play, if you like a clean biting sound, the noiseless are going to be great, if you want to play like a Yngwie Malstien they are not lol,
I am very much into the Gary Moore/Rory Gallagher style of playing, so I do play a HSS strat, which I love, but also a Les Paul Standard, but then again I love that too,,,
I played one of the new PRS SE edition guitars the other day, and that was something else and only £499!!! very under priced for the quality and sound
Z4 Mineral Grey, 28i MSport Auto, lots of goodies
Z4 E85 3.0, gone but now with son :D

My daughter has a Stat like that sunburst ..(I think that’s what they call it) ..? But it has a black finger board and rosewood fret board.
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Thanks John, I was originally after a 350 V63 but a bit pricey so then looked for a 330 but then the 620 turned up on ebay described as brand new with case for 1100 so risked it and turned out to be a good buy, the seller undersold it somewhat I reckon :)

Some of the guitars I use although a Gibson SB 650 has been added to the line up.

Also predominately play through a Two-Rock Studio Pro 35 if anyone on here is into amps :)

I play about 200 gigs a year hence the collection :P

That Two Rock amp is the stuff of legends, you don't see many of those about. I bet you don't get that in the zed!

200 gigs a year? I get about 2! We have one coming up in two weeks time at a local pub, I'm getting nervously excited.

Good luck with the gig Dr John,,
200 gigs a year, that's quite a few, we only manage about 30 a year, mind you I guess it depends what sort of band your in, a friend of mine who plays weddings etc, plays about 200 a year, when you are a rock band, the venue numbers drop considerably

Thanks for the good wishes.

It's very true what you say about rock bands, that's what my band is (60s/70s rock and blues covers). Venues for this type of music are getting few and far between sadly.

I snapped the guys hand off, however the sale was slightly fraught as he wanted payment outside of ebay via bank transfer but I said no, Paypal or forget the sale, take it or leave it. There was no way I was going to transfer money to a stranger. The chap said he wasn't going to pay PayPal fees so I just said let me know if you change your mind. 10 minutes later he messaged me to say he reluctantly would accept a PayPal payment. I did the Payment but then received a message from the seller saying f**k ebay and thanks for trusting him. Apparently ebay had withheld payment until he sent the item off to me, I guess this is to stop fraud and to cover me. The guy wasn't a happy bunny. Anyways once I had told ebay I had received the item the paypal payment was then released. I don't know why the guy was saying thanks for trusting him etc, I just said put yourself in my shoes, would you do a bank transfer to a stranger
