Max tyre width on van rim

I recently bought some nice 7 x 17 alloy rims for my Citroen Relay camper. Now on the Relay there are two sizes of wheel/tyre ...215/70/15 and on the max load variant 215/75/16 which look so much better as they are much bigger diameter and fill the arch. Mine has the weedy 15" and they look crap. My speedo is also way out...reading around 36 when the sat nav and any speed indicator signs read 30 so i'm planning on buying the new tyres for my 17" alloys to be the same (or near enough) rolling radius as the extra load to fill the arches better and hopefully bring the speedo back to reality. My only prob is that the tyres available in high load index on 17" to achieve this are 235/60/17 (I cant find any 225/65/17 with the right load index) Question is.... can a 235 squeeze on to the 7" rim. The Italian supplier says "Yes" but google search says 225 max for a 7" rim. Sorry for the complexity of this but any thoughts would be welcome

simplest answer is - not a good idea, it would go on with effort but would be like a balloon rather than a tyre, it would be unsafe as more liable to come off the rim, it would handle like s**t, and would probably fail an mot - so no

this is the sheet I use, suggests 235/60/17 will be fine on a 7" rim.

Thank you Brillomaster. I've tentatively ordered a single tyre so that I can mount it and check front and back for clearances etc.
I was amazed at the wheels I found on an Italian website. The company Pneus-centre answered emails within minutes and having ordered the wheels on the Monday morning they arrived first thing on the Wednesday morning...unreal..!

Best of all, always buy the size specified in the manufacturer's recommendations. otherwise it is not a good idea and will always be associated with problems. You can visit site and search here for options to fit your standard sizes. There are enough of them here. It will be much safer.
