New toy

Post by firebobby » Thu Mar 14, 2019 7:21 pm

I like my cars and have a very understanding wife, I have a few vehicles in the fleet, but always wanted another classic Mini.

So last week while sat in a local cafe, I overheard the owner speaking about her old Mini.
My ears pricked up and I managed to get chatting to her, turns out the Mini is this little charmer. Now living in my mother in law garage until I get chance to do some work.

I had an early one when I was a student. It had puncture when left in the college car park. I didn’t have the proper jack and used a bottle jack belonging to a friend in an attempt to lift the car. Nothing seemed to happen and I just kept on winding. Then my mate pointed out that the jack had come through the floor and was up to dash board level. The early ones were a bit prone to rust! When I started work I saved hard and bought a nearly new Old English White Cooper. I thought it was the dogs b*******.

I'd love to have a project like that but just don't seem to get the time but more importantly no room in the garage to work on one.

It will need a drivers side sill and the odd repair here and there but on the whole, its not to bad for a 38 year old car.
My sons 1st car was a 1989 Mini, that needed quite a bit of welding
Here it is

I've been looking for a 1966 Mini at the right price for a while. Needs to be a basket case because I want to take it back to nothing and start from scratch, I know it'll cost money but old cars are my hobby!
They're brilliant fun to drive.

I read it as Fred was living in his Mother in Law’s garage. I just assumed Diane had finally seen sense
