Can anybody summarise the current situation?
I'll try - there are roughly 2 camps in 'DLV-gate':

Those who believe DLV is basically a good guy who started out on the forum with the best intentions but for reasons no one can fathom, is making some very poor decisions and letting customers down.

And

Those who believe DLV purposely manipulated and took advantage of the forum from day one, including taking the business name from an established non-profit group with the sole intention of profiteering and is wilfully ignoring any customer complaints.
Cheers Colin, that clears it up... can you summarise the current situation with Brexit now please? :? :D

Many thanks for that Marlon
Im sure it's not only me who was lost off with events.

This thread seems to be going the same way as "Johny Essex" and the Turbo fiasco.

Remember that Brad guy with project filler..or ‘Marmite’ as was called..? He conned tenners out of members and was never seen again after he got bored with the pile of crap, basically sticking two fingers up to the forum and the people who helped him along the way.

This unfortunately smacks of the same routine, two fingers up to the very place that launched a guys sideshow. It’s all very well saying he did a good job, that he might well have done in the first place but now it’s a complete farce, and members have lost out as a result.

Bad form, just piss taking imho.

In order to summarise, there needs to be an underlying rationality; a coherence that people can logically or intuitively grasp, non of which as far as I can tell exists in the whole Brexit fiasco :?

Nah that thread did the same number of pages as up to here but then in 5 minutes
However Johnny Essex was an unfortunate victim, partly of his own ignorance and a little bit of stubbornness and someone took advantage of him. I still feel sorry for him, I hope that was the last bad judgement he made in his life (and actually learned a lot from this) as that must have cost him a lot of sleepless nights.

I dont think DLV planned all this from the beginning, that would be too thought out wouldn't it? :scratchhead:
Although he came here with a storm, making a massive post count in the first 6 months, quickly offering services on loads of jobs, always assisted by his two or three henchmen standing ready to promote his business pointing in the correct direction if he wasn't there to reply as first or verbally muscle up if anything pointed against dlv....

Still I can't imagine that his way of doing now is going to work in his benefit....looks like a self destruct scenario resulting from mistakes too stupid to believe flipping the finger to the community. And why?!? I mean that roof issue I can believe if its a problem way way over his head (although not how he left everything behind), but not meeting your appointments, conning your customers, knowingly stealing a catchy name from a non profit group just because you can and know they don't have the means to go to court for that (otherwise he'd probably used Synters' shed.....). None of the people who know DLV in person ever asked about that name to him? (he's been using that about a year now?)
I mean it's not that hard to come up with a name thats original and doesnt hurt or copy another isn't it?
I mean personally I wouldn't want a name for my business thats totally confusing people with another business or group, even if its catchy.

BTW I can summarize the Brexit from across the channel for those who want to know, especially the hard Brexit:
Its on par with the level of stupidness of mistakes that DLV has made
Luckily for you parliament has come to its senses and voted against a hard Brexit.

I have thought the same about Beedubs business, there is another company who does the same work called Top Wrapz all over instagram.

Let’s have it right, the fella was an opportunist from Day 1..

He was pretty cunning in his approach though, but forums are generally full of decent enthusiasts that welcome somewhere to take their car and people like him can take full advantage..

I dare say it’s not the first time he has done it.

I have been around here years and other forums for longer, being a mod on a couple and have never touted for business, I just think it’s very poor form

There is a huge step up from offering a cheap and cheerful service to forum members, to building a financially viable business off the back of it. Cost of buying a van, renting a unit, tools, consumables, day to day business costs, wages and so on.

Ironically filtering out business names will help that business in the long run, as people searching on Google may not find the negative feedback that helps them form a complete picture before deciding where to spend their money.

I dont know exactly what you're talking about (not quite familiar with Beedubs business or instagram). But a quick peek on there I only found a guy in Finland with the same name, but I can hardly imagine that thats an obstacle for either businesses. The chance that anyone has a hard time to decide to let his car get wrapped in finland or birmingham is quite remote, same as confusing a company in Birmingham with one in Finland. They're 2000 miles apart.

To be honest I never looked to see where both businesses were, looking at Beedubs stuff one minute and then someone elses the next and noticed it was the same name. Maybe he has gone international.
