UK driving licence in EU after Brexit

Post by Jembo » Fri Mar 01, 2019 2:28 pm

Just been reading this considering I’m driving in & out of Europe fairly regularly.
- IDP’s
- Green Cards for insurance

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/prepare-to- ... lsrc=aw.ds

Thought I’d share as becomes immediately enforceable the moment we leave, so knowing how hot the EU Rozzers are know they’ll see this as a cash cow.

Not just that, but if you do have an accident, you'll have to hope the foreign driver's insurance company play ball...otherwise it will become a drawn out process to recover any monies.

The fact that we may need a GB sticker in addition to GB plates or we replace our GB plates with the Euro sign logo to GB plates with no logo is a joke.

As is this “In the event of an accident in an EU or EEA country caused by an uninsured or an untraced driver, UK residents may not receive compensation if there is no EU Exit deal.”

UK driving licence in EU after Brexit

My first trip out to Germany and Netherlands is mid April - I’m not going to worry !
I might get an IDP from the Post Office just in case. I will just leave the GB Euro plates on.

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Agree, not going to worry at this stage.

IDP section repeats the word MAY, so no facts at this stage.

Insurance looks uncertain at this stage as well.

I'll await the definite changes rather than what might happen.

Footman James have just e-mailed me offering me a Green Card in case I am planning an EU trip soon. I am, so I'll give them a call...
