Was a little cheesed off last weekend as managed to hit a block of wood in the road, there wasn't much I could do at the time being a busy fast road. It gave the lower bumper a good pasting and was really expecting a lot more damage the noise it made. I had learnt my lesson a few years back going through insurance with BMW on my old M135i in getting damage to rear bumper sorted so I thought I would give my local ChipsAway a go. First time I've ever used them and pretty impressed with the results to be honest. They collected the car and dropped it back off same day, cost was £170. The damage on my old M135i was a crease in the bumper which BMW replaced the bumper and painted it up at £1500, I was definitely raped that day

I'm not sure the damaged to the Hyundai would have required a compete new bumper but I wasn't expecting a decent repair for 170 quid.

I think they're fine if you want to temporarily hide a bit of damage if you're intending to sell the car in a couple of months.

However, in my experience (and as it's a franchise, some may be better than others), it took so long for my local guy to respond (even with weekly follow-ups) that I went to a guy in the next area who responded very quickly to say that I could bring it to him to fix on site, but he couldn't go into another franchisee's area.

I finally got the repair done 3 months later (by the local one in the end) and he covered up 2 stone chips and a 1" scuff on the driver's a-pillar where something had obviously hit it.

A year later I had to have it sanded and painted again as the repair was becoming rough (little pimples) and started flaking.

Not used one since, as I realised that I with the miles I was doing, I was getting stone chips quicker than I could touch them up

I had a few jobs done on my 123d by them and was very pleased with the results. I'd happily recommend their Bracknell operative.

But being a franchise they're only as good as the guy you get!

I had the local rep around to look at a chip on the bonnet,. Told me he would not be able to match the metallic finish, as the reflective property is dependent on the direction it was applied. I guess that means he is good at his job. Though it didn't sort the stone chip.

Yeah apparently they won’t do any bonnet work as it’s too hard to get a match on such a big panel. Wouldn’t do one on my Dad’s red z3

I've posted these pice somewhere on the forum previously, Auto Windscreens sorted out a hit and run on my rear end last feb, stunning job £250. The repairer build a tent on my drive around the car and 3 hours later she was back to perfect again.

The red is too bright, not a good colour match.

You'll get away with it down there but not what I'd call impressive.

It looks perfect to me Steve, unless I'm colorblind, it's metallic red so impressed it was blended in as well as it has been. I think it would have looked worse having the complete bumper resprayed.

You must have a special computer screen to pick that out

looks perfectly fine, even on my xz3 with screen brightness on 100%.

Steve - compare it with the first pic (before), where the red also probably looks too bright to you. It's just down to the different angle of the panel.

I did ask the guy at chips away how they matched the colour but said they used the cars paint code. I did think they used a scanner but maybe wrong. Anyways it's not discernable and you wouldn't know. The only thing I can notice is the lower bumper line isn't perfectly straight but really it's not a big deal. It looks better. When I had the rear bumper replaced on the M135i by BMW the silver didn't quite match the rear quarters so did annoy me which is why I didn't go for a full bumper respray this time around, it didn't need it anyways.

That looks absolutely perfect to me, as has been said, its the way the light catches the paint.
