Unbelievably close to a deal on this 56 plate 89k C4s 997 http://911uk.com/ads_item.php?id=8868 ( he will sell at £19k with fresh MOT if anyone interested )
Anyone looking for a sub 90k sub £20k 997 Carrera now is plum time for buyers , of the 3 possible cars i delved deep into none had seen any interest in 3- 6 months on sale
So a plethora of factors led me back to my favoured jalopy  & i'm happy with my decision .
The only other real contender was a 981 Cayman but i just couldn't get my head round a £26k/£28k car sat in garage 6 days a week while i drive around all week in a £4k Astravan :D
A Audi TTrs also appealed greatly but after a good drive out realised they are so accomplished in every department behind the wheel i felt almost redundant to the cars needs :( 2.5 T these are unbelievably quick cars  tweaked at 430bhp with quattro & weighing less than a ZMR these will roast most cars point to point below hyper class .
So i'm sat here with my train ticket waiting for the morning
Nice one Andy, hope the collection goes well, look forward to the pictures 😀

Bloody Hell no 14! You've had more zeds than most BMW specialists! :poke:  I know they say never look back but is there any you regret selling?
As for the original topic for me it would have to be a 981 Boxster S which would definitely require the top end of the budget. I'd love a GTS but I'd need an extra £20k on the budget for that. I guess I could be tempted by a late 987 Boxster S with the DFI engine but again its a lot of cash. I dont think I'd go back to the earlier 987/997S because of the engine issues etc.

Mack, the deeper I studied & delved into anything pre 981 the more reticent I was at committing.
"IF" you get lucky Re major fails in ownership there is no amount of small stuff to keep on top of & then you are left holding the sh***y football when you want rid.
Yes lots like them., yes lots want them but reality is unless you get below the current cheapest car available you are in for a long hike to get rid.
As for regrets on letting past Zs go?
Not really no., 2 of my favourite ones went to forum guys so I was able to keep touch (until the 35i was trashed :()
Heard a lot of talk on how good the DCT is & generally how better a 35is over a 35i  Well forming a valid opinion you need to know both cars well so I'm very much looking forward to that

I know what you mean anything pre 981 does scare me a bit. Especially when my last 987 gave me enough minor issues. All suspension/steering related, pasm shocks, control arms and steering arms, fortunately all were covered under warranty at the time. But it was only a 20K car when I got rid, hate to think what it might of needed/cost by 80K.

It will be interesting to here your 35i vs 35is thoughts. I have to admit I'm usually put off autos due to loving the manual box's extra involvement. However I'm probably more worried about the horrendous cost when they go wrong and your the one footing the bill.
