Miles per tank / range of cars
Anyone know any site that compares the capability of cars in terms of miles per tank / range of a given vehicle?
Ive found specific point in time articles and there is a list for EVs of course (all be it not 100% complete/accurate)
Any others without having to painfully work it out every car?

So depends on how you drive. What would be the point. Any thing over 200 is a bonus in my book

Yep, that's exactly what Fuelly is for. Owners record their fuel economy, and you can see the fuel economy in aggregate. I suppose that will give a better real world sense, if you're bothered about that sort of thing: http://www.fuelly.com/car/

I understand it does depend how you drive, just looking for a fair comparison of cars so if its based on the average combined mpg (official figure).. It will allow you to see my old Z4C auto would do about 387 miles vs my x4 20D is 795 (figures based on Parkers who also offer this info but no table comparison as such)..
Ill check out fuelly - thanks

Is there a reason why this is important for you? ie buying a car for a long distance commute to work every day?

Loosely connected, but how accurate is the onboard MPG calculation? I have two counters on my nav unit. I did a 200 mile trip on the 50mph motorways we now have and I got 44mpg from my 3.0i being mainly in 6th gear. I thought that was great! I also seem to get 30mpg bang on when just doing short trips to and from work.
I’m glad I don’t see the low 20’s stated in the manual. There’s always Summer for that though!

Working in sales, we're often expected to drive to Leeds / Manchester / Hull / anywhere under the sun at the drop of a hat. I also regularly drive to Bristol and back (once a month). The shortest of those journeys being 112 miles (each way), the longest being 206 miles (each way).
When I had my zed I was doing about 5k a year (not doing the job I do now). But when I moved into this field it quickly changed to 15-20k a year.
Of course I can fill up everywhere I go but time and costs add up. We have a BEV (Kia Soul) in the house which can do 120 miles on average to the charge. This is obviously a hot topic for BEVs but its also quite useful to know for traditional vehicles too.

Something Eco would make sense.

The problem is if the car most suitable for this is ugly as sin and uncomfortable to sit in for long then whatever benefits low MPG gives its not worth it.

If I needed an eco car at this time, I’d probably go down the Hybrid route.
