I think her also being young & more flexible has had a lot to do with her survival, as that was a mighty heavy deceleration from 170.... & no amount of CF cage & strapping is going to slow down the inertia on your internal organs in a dead stop.
Be interesting to see what comes out of the stewards enquiry, mech/tech failure or driver error

Macau F3 170mph crash
Max Verstappen was driving in F1 at 17.Jembo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 19, 2018 1:08 pmReports suggest she caught the rear of another car. If was her wheel hitting the back of the car infront’s wheel, would certainly explain why she was ‘in flight’.
I have no idea of her competence, .. though am I alone thinking it’s crazy allowing a 17 year old at the wheel of a 170mph F3 car... or is this just the norm now?
As for the video this is a sickening one to watch horrific off

After watching that I can understand why the BBC and Sky news were not showing the actual crash just the aftermath. Horrific!
She is one very lucky lady. Hope everything is OK with her recovery.

Macau F3 170mph crash
It occurred to me that it's technology that of allows a 17 year old person to crash into a box full of other people, at 170mph, so it's a good thing that technology can also now protect a 17 year old person, when such a thing happens. The sooner all vehicles are as safe as modern racing cars the better. Hopefully we will still be allowed to drive them too.
