Saw these a while ago on a focus from memory.

Bloody good idea. Need them on other cars as much if not more than ours though.

:)

I don't know if they would damage another car but I would imagine all these will do is make people even less bothered if they knew their door was nicely protected.

Great idea. No doubt Ford has a WW patent on it. So basically an idea wasted, like the heated front Windscreen, as no one else will pay Ford to use it. :headbang:

The heated front screen was introduced in the mid-80s so the patent will have run out well over 10 years ago - if other companies aren't producing/offering them it's because they don't believe that it's cost-effective for them to have as standard equipment and there's not enough demand to make it worthwhile offering as an option.

Best gadget I ever on a car. :) Just press the button on a frozen winters morning and 2 mins later all the ice is gone. Certainly more use that cup holders. Why oh why do people want those. :fuelfire:

You need a cup holder so that you dont drop your coffee whilst deicing your windscreen as it doesn’t have a heated gizmo. Seriously though Also had a Ford with this and it it is brill till it breaks!!! Like it it did on a colleagues car and then only half the screen had a de icer.

Brilliant idea - now we just need to get all other cars fitted with them! Or get everyone to drive a Focus that has them.

As for heated screens, I'm sure Vauxhall used to fit them to some models in the late 80s/early 90s.

And Mrs Tidy's R56 Mini Cooper has one, so others have offered them.

I think they're great - my 1985 Scorpio had one. Icy mornings just put both heated screens and the heated seats on, wait a few minutes then drive away! :)
Coupes because stunning!

That's gonna go wrong one day due to component end-of-lifecycle or premature system-external damage effect and when it does it's gonna leave a big fat crease in your own door.

It looks a bit plastic fantastic and also like it relies on a mechanical system related/linked to the door position at the hinge, i.e. not proximity sensor, encoder-actuated etc.

A Workmate had these fitted on his Focus ST. They didn't last long before breaking. Heard of them breaking quite often aswell.

Good idea though. Heated windscreens are also fantastic. Not something I'm too bothered about not having, but the missus will be feeling gutted going into her first winter without a Ford heated windscreen
