Having just lost the largest socket, realised I purchased this in my late teens (1983/4 ish), still used regularly & 2nd catch broke the other week - had whole shed out, nothing!
Got me thinking what other tools people have that’d stood the test of time, coz much of the shite you buy now is worn out after a few years, save the snap on kit etc...
Just the rule you had to have purchased it/them brand new, use regularly though no 2nd hand, family airlooms or hand-me-downs.

Got this socket set and torque wrench new in 1975 to do the cylinder head gasket on my first car (850 mini van) - one lost bar and five replacement sockets but mostly all there (and more origanal than Triggers broom!) after 43 years - s**t I feel old now
Got a load of push bike spanners I got in the late 60's but can't think where I put them - so not really in regular use-

My old Sealy car jack which is 34 years old and still doing the job well, although I have a low lift 3.5 ton Sealy now, because it slides under the Zed and MR2 with plenty of space to spare.

I have a lot of old tools I regularly use (old tools from my dad).
I have a set of Britool torque wrenches:
I also have the middle one (not shown)
These are my only torque wrenches in the normal ranges (below 250Nm). Taking into account how much I mod my car, these are used almost on a daily basis and I love them.
Yes they're heavy, dont have a ratchet etc, but they are so durable and have an immensely positive click. They're I think over 50 years old now, and still accurate.
And the best thing is, they also work anti clockwise, which is a very very important feature if you do real spannering. There are quite a few bolts inside the engine which are right hand thread and need to be torqued down.
I also use loads of old pullers etc. Back in the day when my dad bought a lot of tools (60's and 70's) you could only get premium brands so lots of that stuff he bought back then held up pretty nice (and he was very sloppy with his tools).
Old Kukko hub puller:
This puller is still made but I'm now way to cheap to pay €250,- for a hub puller (thats how much they cost nowadays ), so when I need something I usually buy the cheap chinese stuff. If that breaks too soon, only then I buy quality german tools, and probably used first if I can find it. Used you can sometimes find real steals. I needed a big torque wrench, so I bought a 760Nm dremometer (all aluminium) for €35 used:
These still retail for €800+ new!
And of course lots of 40-50 year old gedore/hazet wrenches that see regular use. You can never have too many tools
oh wait, this is all not conform the TS.
Oldest tools I bought new and are still in use are I guess from the mid-late 80's
These 2 sets of watchmakers tools (wrench&nutdrivers) I still use for small stuff, and I have them pretty much as long as I remember. These are from the mid 80's I think, as I bought them when I started to race with model rc cars.
Weakest point is definately the plastic boxes they come in. But they see lots of use as I'm also always tinkering with small stuff.
I also have a small row of tengtools sockets from the mid-late 80's, I think in BA sizes. Not that sockets of that age are special, but tengtools had just started out in those years. I dont know if they even have the same logo

Great idea for a thread but you've made it horribly biased towards old farts.
Think I have 7mm socket driver from 2015...
