Road Trip BH Weekend

Post by coupedan » Mon Aug 20, 2018 4:25 pm

So a little background on this:

Me and a few friends (they are all bikers) planned a road trip from where we are (Surrey) to head over to the Brecon Beacons in Wales.
In terms of cars, there is me and another. There are 10 others all on bikes.
This is a 3 day trip, so leave Friday night and come back Monday.

Now normally this wouldn't be an issue, however I have just spent nearly a grand on the car Friday just gone, so spending another £200ish on fuel plus food and drink (accommodation is already paid for) to me will leave me looking a bit short for the rest of the month.
Now I also have another holiday that needs paying for on the beginning of September.

I should add.. the cars work that was just done was unexpected (to some degree) so couldn't have put by for that.

Now.. I have 3 options;
1. Be sensible and do not go.
2. Hitch a ride in the other car.. but I could be kicking myself for not taking my car as I still have to pay for food and drink.
3. Take the Zed and say sod it.. stick it all on plastic and worry about it another time

What would you do in this scenario?

4. Sell space to someone else

I would do 3 though!

Tough call , even if you plan 2 the fuel should be split between you so no real saving .
I'm sure the social side in evenings will be enjoyable but can't see it working on the tarmac with 10 bikers once you get to the area :?
First sign of congestion they'l be long gone won't they

I sometimes have a similar issue when preparing for a ring trip.

I budget for pads & oil service before I go, but sometimes something crops up (like dripping sump gasket) during the once over that means I either don’t go due to timing of getting the parts, or simp,y due to the cost.

I think I spent almost £2k before my last trip on servicing and having unforeseen additional costs from fitting new brakes, and repairing damage from the National meet.
